Beyond Control

Chapter 79

It's been a month's time since Wangji and Wuxian had been back to Cloud Recesses and had dealt with their issues. Wangji was doing better as he has been more confident in talking to Wuxian about what might be bothering him. Since that month had also passed, the new Qishan Meng Sect under Meng Yao, has been growing. With the alliances of the Moling Su Sect (Who was already a rival sect to the GusuLan Sect), the Yao Sect under Sect Leader Yao who has always had a vendetta against Wei Wuxian and his malicious ways, and most recently, after the extermination of the Yue Yang Chang Clan, Meng Yao's head disciple Xue Yang made it his new sect called the Yue Yang Xue Sect.

With the three sects allied with Meng Yao, it was now an even playing field. The Jiang Sect, the Nie Sect, the Jin Sect, and the Lan Sect, have all decided to meet and have a discussion conference. Since Nie Mingjue was the Chief Cultivator, the meeting was to be held in Qinghe. Lan Xichen informed him that Wen Qing would be going with him as she is his fiancée and will announce it to the rest of the sects at the meeting. Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji also wanted to attend.

Wuxian has been a bit better when it comes to flying on his own sword. He makes excuses from time to time just so he could ride with Wangji. Wangji picked up on that already but did not mind. If he had the chance to hold Wei Wuxian close to him, he would take it. Today was one of those days where he took that opportunity.

"You two are getting to be more shameless together as the days go by," Xichen stated as they stepped out of Cloud Recesses main gate.

"I said once, I have an image to maintain of being the most shameless man," Wuxian said, "if Lan Zhan joins in, it is not my fault."

"You tend to egg him on though," Xichen said.

"Wei Ying is my shameless soulmate," Wangji said, "I should try to keep up."

Wuxian giggled a little bit at Wangji's comment, "how is flying together shameless though?" Wuxian asked.

"You have been able to fly on your own nowadays. To have Wangji fly with you is a shameless act," Xichen pointed out.

"How is it shameless to fly with my Lan Zhan? Am I not allowed to?" Wuxian asked, "you have Wen Qing fly with you. Isn't that shameless as well?"

"Wen Qing does not have enough energy to fly from here to Qinghe," Xichen explained, "her cultivation is not as strong as mine. That is why she flies with me. And I am not denying you a ride with your partner."

"Then what is the problem?" Wuxian questioned.

"No problem," Xichen answered.

"Let us go then," Wuxian suggested.

Wangji pulled Wuxian close to him as he hopped onto Bichen, causing Wuxian to let out a small squeal from the sudden pull. Wuxian then let out a giggle as he kissed Wangji's jaw and wrapped his arms around him. Then the four were off.

"I felt like this conversation was getting nowhere," Wen Qing finally spoke as she held onto Xichen, "what was the point of it?"

"I was trying to tease them, but I failed," Xichen explained.

"You have to really think about what to say when you want to tease Wei Wuxian," Wen Qing told him, "he knows how to change or manipulate the conversation. It is very difficult to tease him."

"To think I should have learned by now," Xichen stated.

"Do not worry about it," Wen Qing said, "he knows how to push people's buttons."

Xichen nodded. The four traveled fairly quickly and quietly. Occasionally having a conversation here and there. The four stopped at Koi Tower on they as a marker for the halfway point. Wuxian also got to meet up with his Shijie for a little while. The four stayed in Lanling for the night and to leave in the morning. Wangji and Wuxian were in their room and Yanli had decided to stop by. Since Jiang Cheng sent her lotus roots, she made soup for the boys and decided to catch up with them.

"How are you both?" Yanli asked, "you look healthy...especially you A'Xian. Seems to me that the Lan Sect is treating you very well."

"Shijie," Wuxian whined a little and blushed, "Lan Zhan takes good care of me...more than you may expect of him. I love him though. I am doing okay."

"I have been well, Shijie," Wangji said to her.

"I am happy to hear that," Yanli said, "I will be staying here while Jin Zixuan goes to Qinghe. Would you two come and visit again on your way back to Gusu?"

Wuxian looked at Wangji and Wangji gave them a nod, "we can stop by again. We are going to discuss about Qishan and the situation with Meng Yao."

"I know," Yanli said, "Jiang Cheng is getting a bit agitated by him. He has been enforcing more disciples recently at Lotus Pier."

"Lan Zhan, perhaps on the way back we should take a detour to Yunmeng. I made improvements on my protection barriers so I want to make sure Lotus Pier is up to date on that," Wuxian suggested, "we can strengthen the barriers at Cloud Recesses as well."

Wangji nodded, "we can stop in Yunmeng. We have to speak with Huan-Ge about it first."

"Alright," Wuxian said, "we can talk about it with him tomorrow before we head out."

"Sounds good to me," Wangji agreed.
