It's been two weeks since Lanling. A'Xian has spent several sessions in the cold spring to finish healing. His cultivation is also now pretty strong.
Shufu, Wangji, and I took A'Xian to the training grounds so A'Xian can use his sword. He hasn't used it in a while and wanted to get back at it. We at first were just watching. When Wangji told me he has skills, he definitely was not lying...like he would anyway. A'Xian even told me some of his training, and him inventing his own sword techniques.
"Lan Zhan, want to spar since I am warmed up?" A'Xian asked.
Wangji looked to me and Shufu and gave him a nod of approval. Wangji then smiled and went to meet A'Xian, "don't get to rough, say that you concede of you can't handle more," I told them.
"Okay," A'Xian said and turned to Wangji, "last time we did this, was when I broke in on that first night. I didn't even take my sword out of the sheathe."
"Don't be prideful," Wangji reminded.
"I'm not, I'm reminiscing," A'Xian said.
"You can make the first move," Wangji said.
"I don't usually make the first move but since you said so, who am I to deny," he said.
"What, you want me to go first?" Wangji asked.
"If you would like to do the honors," A'Xian teased.
Wangji smirked and decided to make the first move. A'Xian easily dodged by turning to once side and let Wangji pass by. Though Wangji countered quickly and A'Xian caught on fast. It was like A'Xian knew Wangji's every move and when or where it would go. I didn't know A'Cian could fight like this.
A'Xian jumped over Wangji and tried to take him from behind but Wangji blocked, then countered with a sweep of his sword to A'Xian's waist. A'Xian twirled to the left and stood his ground. Wangji and A'Xian stared at each other as if they were trying to read the other. Trying to figure out the next move. Though Wangji's moves were clean and precise, A'Xian's were quick and agile. The two work together like wind and fire. One is swift and one is fiery.
A'Xian thrust his sword forward, Wangji blocked. Wangji took a sweep, A'Xian dodged. They countered and blocked so eventually, it was hard to tell who would be victorious.
"I now understand now understand what the two mean by equals," I told Shufu.
"He is a good fighter. Though, I see some Yunmeng sword techniques, I don't recognize the others," he said.
"A'Xian told me he invented his own style and blended his style with the Yunmeng technique," I said.
"Really? He has his own style? At this age?" He was surprised, "I'm impressed."
I smiled, "he is talented...and with him as Wangji's partner, I think it would make the sect proud," I told him.
"He would make a fine asset," Shufu said, "I never thought I'd take to the boy."
"I thought maybe someday," I told him. Something then caught my attention. I turned to A'Xian and saw the drops of dew rise from the ground, "Shufu, so you see that?"
"Is that, water? Coming from the ground?" He asked.
"Hey, A'Xian, Wangji, time out," I told them.
The two stopped and looked at us a bit confused. A'Xian then looked down at his hand and saw the water twirling around his hand.
"What?" He asked, "what is happening?" He looked like he was going to panic.
"Ah, A'Xian, don't panic," I told him, "try to breathe and focus your energy to your hand properly and feel it extend out to the water around your hand."
He nodded and took a breath. The water soon flowed smoothly, creating a small twister over his hand. It was incredible, "What is this?" He asked.
"Water cultivation," Shufu said, "your cultivation is now so high, that you can cultivate water. Maybe at some point, you could cultivate the other elements."
"But, how am I able to cultivate this? Others have higher cultivation then me, so why me?" He asked.
"Being able to cultivate the elements usually comes from a family gene. Chances are, either your father or your mother could cultivate the elements. My guess is your mother. She is Baoshan Sanren's daughter and disciple. Her proudest disciple. You are Cangse's son. You may have inherited traits from your mother's side," Shufu explained.
"My mother?" He asked, "she could potentially do this?"
"Baoshan is also said to be the first and only one to reach immortality. You have Sanren blood. It may have unique traits," Shufu said.
"I now wish I could ask Baoshan or my mother this? Also ask them other things but, this, water cultivation. Cultivating the elements...it's beyond believable," A'Xian said, "though, how do I make it stop?"
Shufu grinned, "try to relax and calm your energy. Allow the water to ease away."
As A'Xian tried, the water exploded everywhere soaking all of us, "ugh, sorry," he said.
Shufu sighed, "it's fine," he said, "we will allow you to practice it further. For now, why don't we call it for today on sparring."
"Well, Lan Zhan and I were pretty even," A'Xian said, "I wouldn't mind stopping."
"We will discuss more of this tomorrow. For now, I will go look for books on this cultivation for you," I said.
"Thanks Xichen-Ge," A'Xian said.
