"A'Ying, can I speak with you privately for a moment?" Baoshan asked. Wei Wuxian was sitting under the magnolia tree at Baoshan's.
"Sure," Wuxian agreed. Wangji placed a kiss on Wuxian's forehead before leaving the two be.
"Was there a reason my husband couldn't sit in?" Wuxian asked.
"I think it should be the two of us for the moment. As for what I want to talk to you about, isn't necessarily easy to talk about," Baoshan said him.
"What do you mean?" Wuxian asked.
"I am just trying to plan for the future and the 'what if' scenario," Baoshan explained, "I know you have suffered though loss and pain more than anyone I know. I just want you to know, if something happens to me, I want you to try to do what you can to carry on. You have a family in the Lan Sect, and they love you. I love you but I need you to understand, if the array opens, it may cost me my life."
"Wai Po?" Wuxian questioned.
"I want you to also have this mountain. Everything inside it is yours. As I am still here, it is mine but if by chance I am gone someday, I need you to carry on the Sanren legacy. I want you to learn from the books and things that I own. I want you to know that it pains me to speak of this but I have to say it," Baoshan told him.
Wuxian nodded as a son escaped from him, "I understand what you are saying, but I do not want to accept it. I do not want to think about a world where you are no longer in it."
"I know," Baoshan said, "like I said, it is just worst case scenario. I am going to promise you, I will do what I can to make it through this. I will try to make it out alive and I will do what I can to keep being in your life. I have miss so much of it. This world has been playing an unfortunate and unfair game with you, A'Ying. I do know that your future will get better."
Wuxian nodded, "okay...I love you," he said.
Baoshan pulled Wuxian into a hug as he cried into her shoulder. He was now worried about the worst case scenario, but he had to try to be strong and determined. He has his husband to help him. Baoshan placed a kiss on his forehead before leaving. Wei Wuxian immediately needed Wangji. He needed his comfort to calm him down.
Lan Zhan?! Where are you? I need you...please.
Wei Ying, I am with Huan-Ge at the lotus pond. What happened?
Lan Zhan, I am not okay right now. I feel like I am going to break. I need you terribly.
Lan Wangji grew concerned by his husband's thoughts that were reaching out to him, "Huan-Ge, I am needed at the moment," he told him.
"What is it?" Xichen asked.
"Wei Ying is upset about something," Wangji replied, "he must have had a serious talk with Baoshan. She needed to speak with him."
"Go on," Xichen gestured by bobbing his heading toward Wuxian's direction.
"Thank you," Wangji said and left Xichen.
Lan Wangji returned to the magnolia tree to see Wei Wuxian in a messy, broken down shape. He was curious as to what Wuxian spoke to Baoshan about. When Wuxian spotted Wangji, he immediately stood up up and ran into his arms. Wei Wuxian wrapped his arms tightly around Wangji's torso, and he shoved his face into Wangji's shoulder. Lan Wangji was quite taken back by how upset Wuxian was. He of course, immediately sprung into action by wrapping his arms around Wuxian. His hand rested on the back of Wuxian's head as he lightly scratched his scalp. He even started humming. He stood there for a while just letting Wuxian cry as he held him and comforted him.
Lan Xichen was worried when Wangji told him something was wrong with Wuxian. He at first thought that Wangji was okay on handling it, but he was wondering what upset Wuxian. Xichen walked over to the magnolia tree to see Wangji trying to comfort Wuxian. Xichen slowly approached them. Wangji looked at his brother and shook his head as he did not know yet, on what was wrong.
Wangji swiftly lifted Wuxian off the ground like a bride, and decided to bring him inside to their room. Xichen followed as he wanted to help if Wangji and Wuxian needed it. Lan Wangji sat on the bed and cradled Wuxian close to him. Xichen sat down and faced the two. Wei Wuxian took his time to calm down before he explained what happened. He took in a deep breath and exhaled. He then slowly sat up and whipped his tears away.
"Thank you," Wuxian said, "did not mean to worry you."
"It is alright," Wangji said as he ran his fingers through Wuxian's hair, "are you okay to tell us what happened?"
"Baoshan just talked to me about some things...she told me that, if the array is activated, for her to seal it and destroy it, she said it could cost her life. She was just trying to prepare me for the worse case scenario. I don't know what to think about it right now. I know she said that I would move on and have a better future. She said that the mountain would belong to me if something happens. Well, Lan Zhan and Me..." Wuxian explained, "I just broke down after she left. She is the only blood relative I have left. Lan Zhan, what am I supposed to do?"
"She was just trying to prepare you," Wangji said, "but I feel like we will get through this. She is a strong woman and I believe that this war will not kill her. We will get through this together. Do you hear me?"
Wuxian nodded, "okay," he said and looked at Xichen, "have you been here this whole time?"
Lan Xichen laughed, "yes I have," he answered, "I wanted to make sure that you were alright as well."
Wuxian blushed a bit, "I did not mean to no notice you."
Xichen brushed his finger against Wuxian's nose, "It is okay. I'm am not mad."
Wuxian giggled, "okay," within only seconds, Wuxian was back to his normal playful self, "oh, watch this!"
Wuxian shape-shifts into his fox form. Lan Wangji and Baoshan were the only ones to have seen him this way, but Xichen has not. Lan Xichen was a bit baffled. He was mesmerized by Wuxian's fox form. It is known that the form of the nine tailed fox was such a beautiful sight. Lan Wangji moved Wuxian's robes aside and started to pet him. Wangji found a spot behind Wuxian's ear that had him leaning into his touch.
"I take it this is your favorite place to be scratched as a fox," Wangji said happily.
Lan Xichen shook his head at the two, "thank you for letting me see you as a fox. I am going to get back to Wen Qing, okay."
"Alright," Wangji replied. Xichen pet Wuxian on the head for a moment before leaving. Wei Wuxian, still as a fox, snuggled up to Wangji. Lan Wangji cradled Wuxian in his arms, "I am always here for you, Wei Ying," he said and placed a kiss on his head. Wuxian rubbed his face against Wangji's. He was telling him that he knows. Lan Wangji sat there just cuddling with the little fox for a while.
