The day for the small marriage ceremony for Wuxian and Wangji had come. Jiang Cheng and Yanli immediately went to speak with Wuxian. Before he left Yunmeng, he told Jiang Cheng and Yanli that he and Wangji were not sure when they would marry, but then they received a letter saying that the two are marrying, it made Jiang Cheng a bit frustrated. He did not want to ruin such a good moment for his Shixiong, because he needed answers. So he went to the Hanshi where he was told that was where Wuxian would be. Yanli went with him to make sure Jiang Cheng didn't do anything stupid.

"Wei Wuxian!" Jiang Cheng snapped as he entered the Hanshi, "what do you take me for?"

Wuxian stood from his spot at the table and scurried behind Xichen, "what do you mean?" He asked.

"You said you were not marrying for a while, why did you suddenly just spring this invitation to us now?!" Jiang Cheng asked.

"It was last minute," Wuxian answered, "it is to finalize our bond. Lan Zhan and I are Soulmates and we are waiting to marry before we...dual cultivate. It is to help with the upcoming events of the war."

"How is dual cultivation to help with the war?" Jiang Cheng asked, annoyed.

"I am still sensitive to resentful energy. With Lan Zhan and I bonded, he can have an easier time helping me to block the resentment out," Wuxian answered, "he and I are fated soulmates. So what we do together is important for the future events that is to come up."

"So how small is this ceremony?" Yanli asked.

"Just you two, Wen Qing and Wen Ning, and the Lans," Wuxian answered, "that small."

"Very well," Jiang Cheng said, "why are you hiding behind Zewu Jun?"

"Because he will always protect me," Wuxian said as he hugged Xichen.

Xichen smiled, "even from his angry purple lotus of a Shidi."

"I am not!" Jiang Cheng argued.

"Definitely angry," Wuxian agreed.

"Wei Wuxian, I will— mmm, Mmmm..." Jiang Cheng suddenly could not speak. He was furious and growled at Wuxian and Xichen.

"Don't look at me," Xichen said, "I didn't do it."

"The silence spell is a charm from the GusuLan sect, how is it not you?" Yanli asked.

"A'Xian knows the spell...as he is to be a Lan here shortly," Xichen answered.

Yanli looked at Wuxian, "I am happy that you learned such a thing, but please release your brother."

"It will be released in half an hour or so," Wuxian said, "he was yelling too much so I thought he needed to cool down. I have a wedding to get to. Xichen-Ge?"

"Let's go then," he said happily and looked at Yanli. He leaned in and whispered to her, "I will release it when we get to the ancestral hall."

Yanli giggled and nodded in agreement.

Meanwhile, Wangji was standing in the Ancestral Hall with Lan Qiren, Wen Qing, Wen Ning, and A'Yuan. They were waiting for the others to arrive so they could start. Xichen, Yanli, and Jiang Cheng entered the hall and following behind them, Wei Wuxian entered. Wangji's heart was pounding. Wangji watched his soulmate walk to him. Standing before him, they took each other's hand and drank cross-cupped wine to share joy and sorrow. Then the three bows, The first bow was to Heaven and Earth. The second was to show respect to the elderly in front of their relatives. The third bow was to each other. The ceremony went perfectly fine.

They then went to the Jingshi, as it was prepared properly for being a bridal chamber. As the Gusu Lan Sect couldn't drink wine, the had replaced it with tea so a disciple came forward, and handed them the tea. They hooked their arms as Wei Wuxian was smirking from ear to ear. Next, they were to tie a knot with each other. Lan Wangji used his forehead ribbon to tie a knot on Wei Wuxian's arm while Wei Wuxian used the red ribbon he always used for his hair. A disciple then served Wei Ying dumplings that weren't totally cooked.

The disciple then asked "Is it raw?"

Wei Ying's face had turned beet red. He then whispered "raw," even though it was clearly heard by everyone and it brought a smile to Lan Zhan's face again. It was then that everyone left the room.

"Lan Zhan, I am glad to finally be able to call you my husband," Wuxian said.

"I am glad I can call you mine forever," Wangji told him.

Wuxian giggled as he removed his outer robes, "should we take our time? I would love to just take you all in slowly."

Wangji smirked, "if you are afraid, you do not have to be."

"I am not afraid of you, Lan Zhan," Wuxian told him, "not even close."

Wangji took the jar of oil out of his robe's sleeve and presented it to Wuxian, "Wen Qing gave me this. She said it would make things easier and more enjoyable."

Wuxian took it and opened it, "it's a lubricant."

"Mnn," Wangji nodded, "I know you are worried about it hurting, and I do not want to hurt you. I want to love you and I want you to enjoy it all. I do not want you in any sort of discomfort."

"Thank you, Lan Zhan," Wuxian said.

Wangji gently held onto Wuxian's face, and kissed him. Wuxian let out a moan out of comfort and pleasure as Wangji gently bit down on Wuxian's bottom lip. Wangji then lifted him off the floor and laid Wuxian down on the bed.
