~*Lan Wangji's POV*~
"You two are courting?" Baoshan asked me after Wei Ying fell asleep.
"We are. It took a while but we are together...our memories can mix...can I add onto his?" I asked.
"It will go in order by time, so you can," she said. I then passed over my energy to the cloud, "not only are you two courting, but there is something else..."
"He is my Fated Eternal Soulmate," I told her, "been tested through an old mirror from my sect. It never gives false information."
"Eternal soulmates are a special thing," she said, "I'll tell you both more about it when we are done watching the memories."
We sat there and watched everything play out. Wei Ying witnessing his parents death and burning their bodies. Roaming the streets alone and running from viscous dogs in the process. His life in Lotus Pier. How Jiang Wanyin treated him so harshly right from the start. Yes, it was terrible that he had to get rid of his dogs, but he didn't understand Wei Ying's issues with them.
I then witness Wei Ying's first punishment with Zidian because he developed a golden core before Jiang Wanyin, "Wei Ying said something about being very young when he was first punished with Zidian...I don't remember if he ever said why. Yu Ziyuan punished him for getting a golden core before her son," I explained.
"What a terrible woman," Baoshan said, "I wish I could have found him first. He wouldn't have suffered like this."
"Would we have met?" I asked her.
"As you two are fated, you are bound to meet in every lifetime. If you both become immortal, you will live several lifetimes together before the next life you gain," she explained.
"I think I understand," I told her.
The memories skipped ahead to Wei Ying receiving his sword for the first time and getting up every night in secret just to practice and make up his own style.
"What did he name the sword?" Baoshan asked with a giggle, "I don't know if I heard that right," I smirked and handed her Wei Ying's sword, "Suibian...just like his mother."
"I was confused when he first told me too, until he explained why," I told her.
"I will wait to hear his reasoning," she said.
Back to the memories, we were now up to the point where Wei Ying and his sworn siblings were heading to Gusu. I smiled seeing us interacting for the first time again.
"You came off a bit cold," Baoshan said.
"My...parents died when I was Wei Ying's age when his parents died. I was told that my mother left and wouldn't come back. I would kneel outside her door waiting for it to open," I explained. I told her how my parents lived and why I was the way I was.
"I can see why fate paired you both," she said, "two souls who have suffered, will love and cherish each other like they are the most precious being in the world."
"I plan to do just that," I said.
She nodded. Going back to the memories, we watched as the opening ceremony happened, Wen Chao, and then skipping ahead to another class. Wei Ying explaining his thoughts on resentment and asking his questions.
"That uncle of yours. He really can't calm his blood pressure can he," Baoshan said, "though, A'Ying sounds just like someone I once knew."
"I know...we met her," I told her.
"What?" She asked.
"It will show," I pointed out.
She nodded. My face turned bright red when the part where Wei Ying was teasing me, changing the book in the library. Baoshan just laughed. It then switched to the water ghouls and Wei Ying explaining his name for his sword.
"So it is sort of a joke," Baoshan said, "and don't think I didn't notice your brother trying to be a wingman here."
"I tried to deny it anything Brother mentioned it. Wei Ying...I just don't think he knew what his feelings were," I said.
"I can see that," she said.
Of course, the memories played out, the drinking incident, the flogging, and the cold spring. We watched as Wei Ying and I got sucked in and fell into the cold cave. That was when Baoshan saw us talking with Lan Yi.
"We will meet again someday, A'Yi," Baoshan said, "we can either talk about it or forget and move on. I miss you my friend."
I let her be. The scene from the lanterns played out, and she found it to be a very sweet moment between the two of us. This was when everything went down. The yin iron, the Cloud Recessed ambush, and the Wen Clan Indoctrination.
"Wei Ying opened up to my brother a lot more then me as my brother managed to get Wei Ying to have us help him...I never knew that when Wei Ying went into that dungeon, he faced a dire wolf...talk about trauma...and then he saved that medicine for me!? I didn't even know that. I just saw he had it with him," I explained.
"He is a very selfless boy, as I have come to notice...not taking help when he is sick or injured and even tries to hide it," Baoshan said. I just nodded to her.
I sighed as the memories continued. Which moved to Xuanwu's cave. Wei Ying causing a scene to get Wen Chao to back off, playing bait as everyone else escaped. I stayed behind and him tending my leg. Baoshan congratulated us for taking down Xuanwu but immediately grew concerned for Wei Ying when she saw him pick up that sword.
Then, the biggest mess of all, was about to play out. Something that I was told about but was not sure I really wanted to actually see. But seeing all these memories, we're helping me to understand Wei Ying so much more.
