Lan Zhan and I brought A'Yuan and Wen Ning to the back where the bunnies were. A'Yuan was all to pleased to sit in a pile of bunnies for a while. Wen Ning, Lan Zhan, and I talked for a bit. I explained to Lan Zhan how Wen Ning and Wen Qing have been so important to me. Wen Ning helped me get Jiang Cheng back, he helped me get the remains of Madam Yu and Jiang Fengmian.
Wen Ning risked his life for me, and I was so grateful for him. He also took me and Jiang Cheng and Shijie into hiding as...we tried to figure out how to help Jiang Cheng. Wen Qing and Wen Ning helped with my Shijie as she was still recovering from her fever. I then explained to Lan Zhan that we ran into Song Lan again, but his eyes were injured, and Xiao Xingchen was not with him.
Mentioning Song Lan and Xiao Xingchen, Lan Zhan seemed curious about them. I was too but if the two had a fall out, I couldn't insert myself into the situation. It was their problem to begin with. Lan Zhan knew that, but the fact that Song Lan's eyes were injured, he was wondering what happened. I explained that his old home got ambushed but he didn't say by whom or what happened exactly. Lan Zhan thought it was strange.
"You don't think Xue Yang has a part in it?" I asked, "I remember he escaped when Wen's ambushed the Nie Sect...I don't know how he escaped though. He was in the dungeons and the Wen's didn't hold up long. The Nie sect had strong cultivators."
"I don't know," he said.
"I was a bit drunk at the time but I could have sworn that night before, I saw Jin Guangyao talking to someone behind a pillar. He acted like it was nothing when he saw me. I didn't question him as I though maybe it was a Nie disciple...maybe it wasn't through," I told him.
"It's possible, won't know without conclusive evidence," he said.
I nodded, "I suppose. What do you think of it all? Jin Guangyao disappeared when the reveal of the amulet being destroyed?"
He shook his head, "I am not sure."
"Will your brother be okay?" I asked, "I know he was close to Jin Guangyao before all this. It must pain him a little bit."
"I can talk to him later," Lan Zhan said, "he is distracted with Wen Qing."
I smirked, "he is so smitten over her," I stated.
"I know," Lan Zhan said.
"What would be okay with her as a sister-in-law?" I asked.
He nodded, "she is smart, nice, talented with medicine, and cares for her family. She is suitable for Brother."
"I am aware but I am wondering what you are thinking about it," I told him.
"I am happy," he said, "she is nice...I have yet to meet with her more but I think she is kind."
I nodded, "how about Wen Ning?" I asked looking at Wen Ning who was with A'Yuan, sitting in the bunny pile together.
"He is shy, I can relate to him," Lan Zhan said, "have yet to spend time with him too."
"There is time," I said and looked at A'Yuan, "seeing how playful A'Yuan is, it reminds me of myself when I was around his age. Losing my parents that young, I can relate to him. Though, he wasn't left alone on the streets but, I can relate to him about the loss of parents in such a horrible way...I hope he didn't witness it like I witnessed my parents."
"I remember the mirror saying something about that," Lan Zhan said, "want to talk about it?"
"Is it bad if that is one of the last memories I have of my parents? The one about the donkey and then witness of my parents death?" I asked.
"I am not sure," he said, "it is not something a child should ever have to witness. If you are not comfortable talking about it, you do not have to."
I looked at him and moved to sit beside him, "I don't think I ever properly talked about my parents' deaths. Though, no one as ever outright asked me...but I never really let it be known that I saw it all happen. Even going to the point of burning their bodies and burying their ashes...I didn't bury the ashes until I was in Lotus Pier but it was still difficult for me."
"Do you want to talk about it?" Lan Zhan asked, "I am here for you and I am always here to listen and be there for you."
I smiled at him, "you're getting better at this whole, lover thing," I told him.
He smirked and kissed my cheek, "only for you," he said.
"I hope so," I teased.
"Wei Ying can tell me what ever he is comfortable with," Lan Zhan told me.
"I don't know if I want to share it with a child nearby," I said, "how about...I promise to share with you later tonight when we are alone. That way if I need it, I can cry...there is no way I can talk about it without crying."
"Alright," he said, "Wei Ying does not have to hide his tears from me. I will be there to comfort Wei Ying."
I wrapped my arms around his waist as his arm snaked around me, "thank you."
"Mnn," he responded.
I then placed a kiss on his cheek. I was glad that he and I are doing so much better with communicating and talking. I want to be able to share anything and everything with him, and I am sure he wants to do the same.

You know, writing dialogue for Lan Wangji can be a challenge sometimes. His verbal skills are different. He tends to speak little or in third person. There is also this thought of him not speaking with contractions.
((Contractions are a way to mash together two words in order to make them shorter. Such as isn't instead of is not or won't instead of will not))
It's challenging for writing a bit. As I think Lan Wangji speaks more formally so he wouldn't use contractions when speaking. I realize I may have added them in some past dialogue but I can always go back and fix it.
Does anyone else have that challenge when writing dialogue for Lan Wangji or is it just me? Haha 😂
