                                                                                    MARIE

I was on my bed reading Sweep: Book of Shadows when I heard a knock on my door. "Come in," I said. Seconds later, I heard the door open. I looked up and saw Light walking up to me. "What are you doing in my room?" I asked. "I didn't think you'd still be up," Light answered. "It's alright," I told Light. "I'm up late on weekends anyway." Light sighed. "If you're worried about Near, don't be," he reminded me. "He'll be okay." I gave Light a look telling him that I didn't believe him. "Well, maybe we shouldn't have watched The Little Mermaid," he commented. I sighed and closed my book. "It was better than watching Titanic during this kind of situation," I mumbled under my breath. "Hey, the Titanic was an ocean liner, not exactly a cruise ship," Light reminded me. "They started to become more uncommon after World War II. Cruise ships are different. It's rare for them to sink." I sighed. "Just because it's rare doesn't mean it's impossible," I reminded Light. "The person who created the Titanic said it was unsinkable and yet, it sank."

"I know," Light said. "He should have never called it unsinkable." I watched as he looked at me. "But do you know what?" he asked. "What?" I asked. "There is a ship that collided with a ship, but it didn't sink," Light answered. "It was called the RMS Olympic." I sat there surprised to hear what Light had told me. I had never heard of the RMS Olympic before. I was surprised to hear that it didn't sink when the Titanic, Britannic, and Lusitania sank. I was hoping that Light wasn't making stuff up. I didn't want to fight with him so I accepted that it was real for the time being. "That's cool," I said out loud. "Besides, cruise ships are pretty much unsinkable," Light told me. My smile faded and I started to get worried. The word "unsinkable" was drilled into my brain. Why did Light just say that? Doesn't he know that any ship that's "unsinkable" is cursed? I thought. "Un-unsinkable?" I asked shuddering. "Marie, would you just relax?" Light asked. "Nothing bad is going to happen to the Heart of the Ocean. Besides, did you get any sleep last night?" I nodded. "Yes," I answered. "I fell asleep at 10:30 and woke up at four in the morning. I tried to stay awake, but I couldn't. I should stay up tonight."

Light sighed and lowered his head. "How about this?" he asked. "I will stay up and so will Ryuzaki. We will inform you if anything happens." I was surprised to hear that. "Really?" I asked. Light nodded. "Yes," he answered. "We'll alert you if something happens, okay?" I hesitated at first but eventually nodded. "Okay," I agreed. "Good," Light said. "I'll be in the upstairs guest room if you need us." I watched as Light walked out of the room and closed the door. I sat there on the bed thinking about what will happen. I hoped that Near and the others would be okay. If Light said that incidents with cruise ships sinking were rare, then I'd have to believe him for now. One thing that pondered on me was about this ship called the RMS Olympic. Was it a real ship like Light said it was? Or was it just mere fiction? Nevertheless, I got out of bed and turned on my computer. I punched in the password and watched as my Windows XP welcomed me.

I went to Internet Explorer and typed in the search bar:

"RMS Olympic"

I pressed the search button and sure enough, there it was. There was a picture of the exact ship that Light was talking about. "He wasn't lying," I muttered to myself. I continued to do research about the RMS Olympic and sure enough, I learned that the RMS Olympic collided with a ship and didn't sink. I was surprised that something like that was true. I was surprised that this ship was launched a year before the Titanic. It was tragic that all of those ships had sunk. More than a thousand lives were lost in both the Titanic and Lusitania, but with the Britannic, only thirty lives were lost. Even though thirty wasn't that much, it was still tragic enough. With Near on the Pacific Ocean, I hoped that he and the rest of the SPK wouldn't encounter that kind of tragedy as each of those ships did.
