Muji POV
Jax and I ended up inside of the hallway that lead to the resting rooms, it was quiet and dark. Part of me thought he was going to attack me, but the other part believed he truly wanted to talk.
"We can talk here. No one will be eaves dropping."
I hummed, I definitely didn't sense anyone around us, but from what happened earlier I now knew my senses could be avoided.
"Muji."
I looked to Jax, he looked like he was about to breakdown from stress. I had never seen him like this either.
"What the hell is going on?"
"I...I don't know where to start. I guess I'll get the main point out the way, there's someone here who loves to make my life hell. They've been doing it ever since I was born...and it only stopped after I came to this kingdom."
I blinked twice.
"Came to this Kingdom? Jax what're you-
"Muji. Im about to tell you something I've never told anyone. The only person who knows is King Juls."
I had no idea what was going on but I was interested.
"My real name isn't Jax Kravis...it's actually Jax Amaster. I'm an illegitimate heir of the Amaster Kingdom, I was born one year after the current prince, Leonard Amaster. Which makes him my older half brother."
I genuinely froze in shock, my heartbeat sped up. I didn't care anything about royalty or nobility, but Jax being one didn't make any sense to me.
"Wait so you're not just some super gifted commoner like me?"
"I wish that was the case. This cursed royal blood flows through me, and it's been the bane of my existence."
I scratched my head in confusion.
"Why do you hate royals so much if-
"Because those damn monsters don't care about anything!! They do whatever the hell they want and play god without caring about anyone or anything else!!"
Jax slowly caught his breath before looking at me.
"Leonard Amaster, that bastard makes it his life goal to make me suffer. Just for the sole reason that I was born. Let me tell you a story Muji."
Many years ago.
I was a young boy born from a mistress of the King, I had no knowledge of anything but I believed in kindness very much. My mother didn't want me by the time I turned five, so the King took me in, and I found out I had an older brother, who I wanted to friends with no matter what.
Be he didn't want that.
"Don't touch me. Filthy worm." He'd say.
"Why are you walking around with a smile?" He'd ask.
"Do you actually think you have the right to live?"
He would beat me, tie me up and leave me to starve, he would attempt to drown me, he'd slit my wrist, and those were only daily occurrences. Leonard soon became very fond of my little torture sessions and upped the intensity with every passing week.
All sorts of nobles would join in and make it worse, putting me up to impossible tasks only to punish me when I failed as if it wasn't inevitable.
To this day I still have scars, mentally and physically.
There were times I thought I couldn't go on anymore.
But I could because of one person.
I had a sister two years younger than me.
Born from a different mistress of the King, but still family regardless. I cherished her more than I did myself, so much in fact I would tend to forget my pain when I was with her.
She was my only light in my dark world.
But Leonard seen that light.
And he didn't like it.
When I was eight years old, I went to surprise her on her birthday. I walked into her room and seen that she was under the cover, so I went to jump scare her and felt that her bed was extremely wet.
I removed the cover and felt my heart sink to my stomach as I witnessed a horrifying scene. Her body had been skinned alive, and her mouth was being blocked by something.
On her forehead it was a note, saying it was a present from Leonard. I told my father but he didn't care, I told my step mother but she didn't care either.
I was all alone.
I swore to get revenge.
I attacked Leonard while he was sleeping, and I almost loss my life. I ran away, I ran for days on end while bleeding out. I made it to the Kingdom of Juls and was saved by the King.
"We staged my whole attacking the capital thing so I could have an excuse to stay here. If the King took me in the rumors of a scandal would be too great, so he decided the best way to help me was by making me a prisoner."
I looked at Jax.
I didn't know what to say.
If someone had did that to Karin, I would be the same too.
"Muji...I need you to understand. Leonard will kill someone in the most excruciating way possible just to make my life worse. If he find out we're friends then he'll kill you. Not only is he way stronger than us, he's a prince. We can't just fight back or their will be consequences."
"And what about Adjest?"
"Leonard isn't stupid. He knows full well attacking a princess of another Kingdom would just lead to war. But there would be no issue if he kills a commoner like you, no one would even bat an eye, even if he was found guilty."
I sighed.
"So please Muji, I need you to stop talking to me if you aren't going to drop out. Leonard can't see us together or-
I punched Jax in the face, not heavy enough to do any damage but heavy enough to where he felt it.
"Jax, are you trying to protect me or are you just scared?"
Jax froze a bit.
"Where's the man who stayed behind and fought off an army of skeletons knowing he couldn't actually win. We've always been facing unwinnable battles and we've always won. If you were trying to protect me, you'd stand by my side and fight him together with me if he tried something. This pitiful attempt of what you want to call protection is just you being terrified. Man the hell up."
Jax went to say something but his face went pale as stared at the ground while shaking uncontrollably. I turned around and saw someone standing there at the other end of the hallway.
He had glorious yellow short hair, which was contrast to Jax's unique black hair. His eyes however were just as red as Jax's.
"What's this? Jax, who's your friend?"
"H-He's not-
"My names Muji."
I walked over and stood in front of him, getting in his face and staring him down.
"I'm his best friend. What's it to you, Your Highness?"
