Chapter 11: Complicated Mess

*Sam's P.O.V*

If the conversation with Hawk was hard, then I wasn't prepared for the conversation that I had when I went to go and talk to Robby.

I wanted to try and talk to Robby to see if he can come back to Miyagi-Do.

It was worth a shot.

We had to try everything.

So I sat here, in my car, as I was at the skatepark that I knew Robby would be at.

As I drove here, I couldn't stop thinking about the conversation that Hawk and I had at his house.

I wasn't expecting him to tell me that we should keep our distance from each other.

Then saying that if we kept our distance, it'll be easier to keep the movie night we had a secret.

It crushed me and I didn't start to cry until I reached my car and started to drive away.

I cried the whole time that I was driving. I understand when Hawk and I were talking but it still hurt and it feels like my heart has been ripped out of my chest.

When I would be at a red light, I would try to wipe away the tears but the tears kept coming.

I had to calm down because I didn't want to be crying when I was talking to Robby.

After a few more minutes, here I was.

At the skatepark.

I see Robby riding the skateboard with such ease that he's so used to it. It's a hobby of his if you couldn't already tell.

I took a deep breath and wiped at my eyes once more before getting out of my car and walking towards him.

"Robby." I called him.

He turned to me once he heard his name and I walked closer to him.

"You know, I came here every day after you ran away, hoping I would find you." I started.

"So what do you want?" He asked, getting straight to the point.

"I was really angry at you for what happened at the school. But believe me, I never stopped caring about you."

"You never stopped caring about Miguel either."

After he said that sentence, I looked to the ground. Yeah, I care about Miguel but he's not the one I like. At least not in that way. Not in the way that Robby thinks now.

He couldn't be further from the truth in the way that he's thinking.

"What is it, Sam?" Robby noticed my face.

"Miguel isn't in the picture anymore."

He scoffed. "I don't believe it."

"It's true." I countered back, "There's someone else I like now."

"Who is it this time?" He snapped, "Is it Hawk?"

I didn't have to say any words. My silence answered his question.

"Are you serious, Sam?" He asked once he realized who it was.

"I've liked him for the past year. This wasn't a sudden thing."

"Does he know?"

"No." I shook my head.

Robby just gave me a look and it didn't make me feel good. But I can't help who I like.

"I know this whole situation is complicated." I said.

"There's nothing complicated about it." Robby said, "It's a choice and you chose."
