*Eli's P.O.V*
I sat at the kitchen table, fingers dancing across the keyboard, trying to finish up this college paper.
The house was quiet, just me and my thoughts. Mom was at work, and I knew Sam would be coming over soon.
It was one of those rare moments where I had time to myself, where I could focus on getting this paper done and turned in.
With each word I typed, the weight on my shoulders started to lift. I could feel the relief washing over me as I approached the end. It had been weeks of research, late nights, and countless revisions, but now I was finally reaching the finish line.
The silence in the house allowed me to concentrate, to pour my thoughts onto the screen without any distractions.
As I hit the final keystroke, a sense of accomplishment washed over me. I leaned back in my chair, taking a moment to savor the completion of my task.
The laptop screen glowed, displaying the culmination of my hard work. It was a satisfying sight, a tangible representation of my effort and dedication.
But as I closed my laptop, the weight of something else settled in. Thoughts about Sam and the serious conversation I wanted to have started to fill my mind.
It had been on my mind ever since we made amends, and now it felt like the right time to talk about it. The anticipation mixed with a touch of nervousness, as I wondered how she would react.
As I stood up from the kitchen table, stretching out the kinks in my body, I couldn't help but practice the words in my head.
I wanted to express the depth of my feelings, the longing that had been growing inside me.
It was a leap into the unknown, but I hoped that Sam would understand and embrace this next step in our journey together.
While I waited for Sam to come over, I went to the fridge and grabbed a can of Sprite. So, I got thirsty. There's nothing wrong with that.
I opened the soda can, taking a big gulp because part of my mouth felt dry and I needed to feel fresh. The satisfying liquid will do just that.
Time went by, and I had barely paid attention to it before my doorbell went off.
I smiled once I heard it. It means Sam is here.
I walked over to the front door, with a smile on my face and then I opened it.
Sam stood on the other side, looking beautiful as always.
"Hey." She smiled.
"Hey." I smiled back at her.
She looked beautiful as her hair is tied up in a low ponytail and she's wearing a purple tie-dye shirt and then some comfortable blue shorts.
"Sorry, I'm a bit late." She apologized. "I got caught up with something back at my house."
"It's alright." I said, stepping aside. "Please, come in."
Sam stepped inside my house and then I closed the door. We both walked to the kitchen and she saw my laptop on the table.
"Were you writing a paper?"
"Yeah." I said, "It's for one of my college classes."
She nodded, sitting down in a chair and I stayed standing.
"Do you want something to drink?" I asked her.
"I'll take a water, please." She smiled.
I smiled back at her before I grabbed a water bottle that's in the fridge and then I handed it to her before I sat down at the table with her.
