*Eli's P.O.V*

I shift a little, trying to get comfortable on this stiff hospital bed. The pillows are lumpy, but I've managed to stack them into a sort of makeshift throne.

I glance down at my breakfast, a plate of pancakes and eggs the nurse brought over before she left the room. The smell is inviting, a reminder of weekend mornings at home.

I can't help but feel a twinge of excitement at the thought of leaving this place later today. She had said it so casually, like it was just another part of her routine, but to me, it was everything.

I cut a piece of pancake, watching the syrup ooze across the fluffy surface, and take a bite. It's not bad for hospital food.

The eggs are a bit rubbery, but I don't mind. I'm going home. That thought alone makes everything taste better.

As I eat, I can't stop thinking about what it'll be like to step outside, breathe in fresh air, and see something other than these pale blue walls. It's been too long.

I finish my breakfast, pushing the tray aside, and lie back. I'm really going home. I close my eyes for a moment, letting that sink in. Today's the day I get my life back on track.

Well, not completely.

I still have a broken arm and I have to have the cast on for about six weeks. And then I have to see when I can do karate again.

But I also won't be surprised if Mr. LaRusso will find some way to get me into karate again. Maybe with some meditation exercises.

"Eli, you have some visitors." The nurse said, coming into my room and interrupting my thoughts.

I looked at her. "Who is it?"

She stepped to the side, letting them in and my eyes did light up. I love having visitors.

Demetri and Miguel entered the room with warm smiles on their faces and they had a few things in their hands, letting my curiosity be heightened. What do they have here?

"This is a sight I never thought I'd see." Demetri said as he came to stand by my side.

"I can say the same thing." I said and then I let my eyes wander over to Miguel who seemed a bit nervous to be near me but he still kept the smile on his face.

"Hey, man." Miguel said, "How are you feeling?"

"Sore nonetheless.." I shrugged, "But I'm fine. I've been told that I'll be going home later today."

"That's great news." Demetri chimed in, smiling.

I chuckled. "Really great news."

But then I asked, "So what is in the bag?"

"Some simple get well gifts." Demetri said as he started pulling some stuff out, "I got you a couple of comic books from the comic book store. And even got you a card."

I took a look at the card that was Dungeon Lord themed, "Thank you, I love it."

"And my mom put together a small gift basket.." Miguel said, giving it to me. "It has some candy, a card, some socks, some movies and a gift card to your favorite fast food place."

"Thanks, Miguel. I appreciate it."

"And my mom is also inviting you and your mom over for dinner." Demetri lets me know.

"I'll be sure to tell my mom."

I really appreciated their friendship because they didn't have to do this. They didn't have to get me any gifts. I'm just happy that they came to visit me. That meant everything.
