*Eli's P.O.V*
"The more chocolate chips, the better." I said as I added the sweet treat to the cookie dough.
"I love chocolate." Moon smiled as she would fold the chocolate chips in the cookie dough that's currently in a bright, green bowl.
Moon and I are hanging out but is that even surprising at this point? It's been explained that her and I have been hanging out with each other a lot lately and this is one of those days where we're spending time together and enjoying the other person's company.
We're making cookies because it seemed like it would be fun to do. We didn't know what else to do but then thought we'll bake something.
And plus, Moon has more willpower than me. I so badly want to taste some of the cookie dough but she won't let me.
"Okay, now we just need to roll the dough into balls and put them on the baking sheet." Moon explained.
"Seems easy." I said as I grabbed some of the dough.
I rolled the dough between my hands, the softness a stark contrast to the hard day behind me. Moon was there, too, our movements synchronized as we placed each ball onto the baking sheet, the mundane task a silent language between us.
The kitchen was our sanctuary, the simple act of baking a bridge back to normalcy, or whatever our normal was.
Then, as Moon turned away, a playful impulse struck. I glanced at her, ensuring her attention was elsewhere, and snagged a piece of the dough.
The sweet, forbidden taste of it was a small rebellion, a moment of childish delight in the midst of our grown-up complexities.
I savored the taste, the secret shared between me and the kitchen, as we continued our dance around the cookie dough.
Once we finished rolling out the dough and putting it on the baking sheet, we put it in the oven and now we have to wait.
"We have to wait about ten minutes." Moon tells me.
"Alright." I said as I took a sip of water.
We stayed in the kitchen, not moving an ounce as we distracted ourselves with other things until our sweet treat is done baking. I can already smell the chocolate.
"Okay, so I have a question for you.." Moon started.
"What kind of question?"
"It's a would you rather question."
"Go for it."
Moon started to talk, "Would you rather have the ability to fly or be able to teleport anywhere instantly?"
"Teleport." I answered.
"How come?"
"Because I'm tired of being here."
"Do you really?"
I shook my head. "Not like that. I love being in the Valley, I love doing karate. But I just wanna be far away from Sam."
Moon looked at me with her soft, brown eyes. "Where would you go?"
"I don't know." I shrugged. "To another country, I suppose."
"Like what?"
"London, I guess."
I just need a vacation. A lovely vacation where I can get far away from the bullshit that's happening in my life and I can relax without any worries.
Maybe I need to go to the beach and then just sit in front of the ocean. Let me hear the seagulls soar and the sand crushing through my toes. Let me play some beach volleyball with people who won't betray me in a way where I instantly start to have hatred.
