*Sam's P.O.V*
|One Year Later|
The familiar hum of the airport buzzes around me as I step off the plane, a surge of excitement coursing through my veins.
I'm back in the Valley after being in Okinawa for a year and and the thought of seeing everyone again sends a warm rush of happiness through me.
The air here has a certain nostalgia that embraces me like an old friend, and I can't help but smile as I make my way toward the baggage claim.
As I stand by the carousel, I spot my suitcase—the one with the faded stickers from my travels—and I hoist it off the belt with ease.
It's heavier than I remember, but it's a good weight, filled with souvenirs and memories from the time spent away. With my bag in tow, I push through the doors and step outside.
The crisp Valley air greets me instantly, a refreshing change from the stale plane atmosphere. It's a sharp, clean breath of home, and I fill my lungs with it, letting the coolness tingle my skin.
I wrap my jacket a little tighter around me and scan the crowd for my family's familiar faces. I'm back, truly back, and it feels like the beginning of a new, hopeful chapter.
I spot my family after a few more minutes and it puts a smile on my face.
"Sam!" My dad smiled as he walked towards me.
Once dad got closer to me, he immediately wrapped his arms around me and I hugged him back right away. It feels great to have my dad's comfort and being in his arms.
Then we pulled away and he looked at me, "Welcome home!"
I continued smiling. "I'm glad to be home."
"Okay, my turn." My mom said with a smile on her face too.
"Hi, mom." I hugged her and her arms were around me instantly.
The whole time I was in Okinawa, I talked to my mom and told her everything that happened. She enjoyed hearing my stories and I really enjoyed telling her.
And when I finished hugging my mom, I then hugged my younger brother, Anthony."
"Dude, you're tall now." I said once I took a step back from him.
"Got a growth spurt." He grinned.
"When you told me you were getting taller, you weren't kidding at all."
"Nope." He shook his head, "I continued to grow and I was excited to see the look on your face by my height."
"I'm impressed." I chuckled.
"It's great to see you guys talking." My dad said, "Anthony, here, would always want to talk to you when you were in Okinawa. The kid would go to bed late despite knowing the time difference."
"Is that why I would get stories about you not going to school?" I eyed my brother.
He shrugged, clearly showing me without any words that something like that had happened.
"But he made good grades." My mom praised Anthony.
"That's good." I nodded.
"Let's start to get in the car before security tells us to." My dad said as he grabbed my luggage.
I got into the backseat with Anthony and I buckled up, feeling secure.
Then Anthony started talking, "I really missed you, sis."
"I missed you too, bro."
Once my parents were in the car and buckled, my dad started to drive away from the airport.
