"How's your breakfast, Sam?" My dad asked me.

"It's good." I said as I took another bite out of the chocolate chip pancake.

"That's good." My dad smiled, "I bet you didn't get a lot of chocolate chip pancakes when you were in Okinawa."

"Not really so this breakfast is special."

The diner's vibrant hues are a feast for the eyes, almost like jumping into a scene from a classic film.

As I savor the sweet melody of chocolate chips melting in my mouth, the pancakes seem to dance with the syrup, creating a symphony of flavors.

The hash browns add a savory crunch to the ensemble, while the fresh mixed fruit provides a refreshing interlude.

Across from me, Dad's omelette is a masterpiece of its own, a fluffy, golden canvas dotted with an array of colorful veggies and meats.

The aroma is inviting, a reminder of the many mornings we've shared like this. The sizzle from the kitchen mingles with the soft hum of conversations around us, the clinking of cutlery providing a steady rhythm.

The diner itself is a character, walls adorned with neon signs and framed memories of days gone by. Each booth tells a story, the leather seats holding secrets of countless patrons before us.

The jukebox in the corner stands like a sentinel, ready to transport us to another era with the push of a button.

It's a place out of time, a cozy corner where the world slows down just enough for us to enjoy these moments together.

"I've missed having you at home and having breakfast. So this means a lot to me."

"It means a lot to me too, dad."

He smiled before he said, "So tell me stories about Okinawa.. what did you do?"

I love when someone asks me about Okinawa because it means that I would get reminded of the memories I've made and the adventures I went on.

I've told Demetri, Miguel, and even Yasmine what happened when I was in Okinawa. I've talked to Moon too and even when I've talked to her lately, I can't bring up Eli.

I don't want to ask her something that can possibly make me upset.

The only person I've talked to about the Eli situation is Demetri. I know that Miguel knows but that is most likely because Eli told him. Lucky for me, Miguel doesn't bring it up because he already knows that I'm sorry and feel guilty.

"When I would be assisting Chozen in his karate classes, I would be helping him demonstrate different karate styles.." I started.

"What else?"

"He would even have me demonstrate techniques by myself. He took the lead most of the time but he let me help out in any way."

"Is there more stuff that happened?"

"There was even a time where he knew that he would be late to one of his karate lessons so he let me take over. So I had two actual karate classes one day." I said, remembering the day. "It was really fun."

"I'm glad to know that you enjoyed Okinawa and this opportunity." My dad smiled as he finished his omelette and took a sip of his coffee.

"It just felt so natural.." I said, "I wouldn't mind going there again and teaching young children karate."

"Do you want to become a karate sensei when you're older, Sam?"

I thought about my dad's question. I thought about it hard, trying to process it and trying to come up with an answer.
