"You can at least pretend you're excited to be here." Eli said as we sat in my car while it's parked in the parking lot of the kid's birthday party that I was forced to come to.

We've been sitting in the car for almost ten minutes. I refused to get out of the car right away. I wanted to stall for as long as I wanted to and Eli was all for it at first. But now he's basically telling me that I have to put my big girl pants on and go inside.

"There's no way that I can be excited to be at a kid's party." I gave my boyfriend a look but grabbed my phone and got out of the car.

Eli followed suit and I made sure that my car was locked before we started to walk towards the entrance way.

I locked hands with Eli as we walked inside and we were suddenly welcomed by Sheila, the woman who is hosting the party for her daughter.

"Sam, hi." Sheila smiled and then gave me a hug.

I had to let go of Eli's hand to hug her back, "Hi, Sheila."

"It's so good to see you."

"It's good to see you too."

Then she took a look at Eli, "Who's this?"

"Oh, this is my boyfriend, Eli." I told her, "It's totally alright if he came along, right?"

"Absolutely. The more the merrier." She said as she gave us both a bright smile.

"Nice to meet you." Eli smiled at Sheila.

"Nice to meet you too, young man."

"We'll try to talk to you later." I said.

"Okay, sounds good, Sam."

I went back to holding hands with Eli as we both started to walk in the direction of where I can see my mom. She seemed to have been talking to other people who were attending the party as well.

"Hey, mom." I said as we approached her.

"Hey, guys." She smiled, "I didn't know if you were going to show up or not. I thought you would've picked up Eli and then gone somewhere else."

"Trust me, I wanted to." I muttered under my breath.

"We do have plans later tonight though." Eli told my mom.

"Oh, to where?"

"The whole dojo is going to the drive-in tonight." Eli explained, "They're showing Bloodsport."

"Drive-ins are fun." My mom said.

"I bet." I said.

I've only been to the movie theater so this would be a new experience for me. But I'm looking forward to it because I'll be with all my friends. Even though, I'm sure it'll be awkward because Miguel will be there too.

"Sam and I are just gonna have a little talk and then we'll come back here." Eli then said before he took me to the side.

My mom gave a nod to Eli's sentence and then we both walked to a nearby table so that we could sit down and possibly try to enjoy ourselves. Well, Eli is slowly easing into it, it's taking me a little bit longer to get used to the surroundings of the loud children and colorful decorations.

Eli kept holding my hand, "You're going to enjoy yourself because I'm here too and you know that I know how to have a good time."

"Yeah, I know." I laughed, "You're a party animal."

He only grinned at me.

I looked around at all the children playing with each other and I have to admit, it's cute. But really, Eli and I are the only teenagers here and it's really weird.
