*Sam's P.O.V*
"It looks like we're the only ones here." I said as we arrived at the arena, "Well, at least from our dojo."
"Yeah, looks like it." Eli said, looking around at the arena that has started to fill up with other people that are participating in the tournament.
Some people from other dojos were already in their own colorful karate gis. Some people had white and some had blue. Then when Cobra Kai and Eagle Fang join the tournament, they're adding the colors black and red. Which will contrast with Miyagi-Do's normal white gi. But ours is cool though. It has a bonsai tree on the back.
"Is your dad expecting us to change into our karate gis right away?" Eli turned to look at me as he started to even rummage through his bag.
"I could ask him." I said.
I pulled out my phone and then went to my dad's contact. I clicked on it and then started to type away.
Me: Hey, dad. Eli and I have already arrived at the arena. Do you want us to get into our karate gis right away?
Now we have to wait for his response.
"While we wait, we can talk." Eli said as he sat down on the bleachers.
I sat down next to him on the bleachers and I kept my focus on Eli. I knew that I now had to worry about the tournament but I'm here with Eli right now. Let me enjoy the alone time we have before we are joined by the rest of our dojo.
"There is something that I want to tell you.." Eli said.
"Is it bad?" I asked.
"No, it's not bad." he shook his head.
"Okay, then go ahead."
"After the tournament, I'm planning on cutting off the rest of my purple hair."
Did I hear that, right? He's going to have himself a haircut after the tournament is over. But why? His purple hair looks so good and it makes me wonder why he wants to do this. Why the sudden change?
"I'm confused.." I said, "I thought you liked having purple hair. Why are you suddenly wanting to cut the rest off?"
He shrugged. "It just felt like the right time. I said before that I'll keep it for a while. And it's been a while now. I think I'll get a complete fresh start by doing it. Plus, my hair will grow back."
"I'm going to miss your purple hair though." I said as I ran my fingers through his luscious purple hair that made my heart melt because I love it so much.
"It'll be alright."
His assurance made me a little sad because I still can't believe this. I know, I know. It might be a little ridiculous about someone getting a haircut and no longer having their current colored hair. But I love the purple. Everyone else loves the purple. It certainly surprised me when he told me but I'm not going to object because this is his choice.
My phone went off after a few more minutes. It's a message from my dad.
Dad🥋: Yeah, you can go and change into your karate gi if you want. I'm almost at the arena. Just letting you know.
Me: Okay, we'll start getting ready. See you in a bit, dad.
I turned to Eli, "Dad messaged me back. He said that we can change into our karate gis if we want to."
"We might as well change before the rest of the dojo gets here."
I agreed with my boyfriend before we both grabbed our bags and we headed to where the changing rooms were at. He went into the boys and I went into the girls. Some other girls were there but I paid them no mind. Let me be in my own world while I have a few minutes to myself.
