*Eli's P.O.V*

I'm alone in the kitchen, the sizzle of the burrito filling the air. The smell of grilled chicken and peppers is a comforting blanket around me.

I take a bite, and the flavors explode - spicy, savory, perfect. It's a small moment of peace in the quiet house.

Dungeon Lord is paused on the screen, the game's colors casting a glow across the room.

I love the thrill of it, the strategy, the escape from the pressures of the dojo.

It's quiet today, with mom at work and the world outside seeming miles away. These moments of solitude are rare and I savor them, a chance to just be Eli, not the karate kid.

Then the doorbell rings, shattering the silence. I freeze, burrito in one hand, my other hand near the laptop keyboard. I wasn't expecting anyone.

Setting my burrito aside, I head towards the door, curiosity piqued. Who could it be?

I pull the door open and there's Miguel, his presence filling the doorway. A surge of emotions hits me, the air between us crackling with unspoken words and shared history.

"What are you doing here?" I asked, getting straight to the point. My voice bitter.

"I need to talk to you."

"And I don't want to talk to you." I said, "I rather stick pens in my eyes."

"Wouldn't that be awfully uncomfortable?" He asked.

"Evaporate, Miguel." I said.

"Can we please talk?" He practically begged.

He's actually begging. To me, he's acting like a dog with a bone, begging me on his paws and feet, trying to get my attention and it's absolutely laughable.

"I have nothing to say to you."

"Well, I have tons to say to you."

"Aww, how sweet." I mocked him.

"I'm asking one more time.." he said, "Can we please talk?"

He's still begging and it's hilarious. He's acting like a child.

"Fine." I said, "You have five minutes."

I let him inside my house, and when he was inside, I shut the front door. I'm pretty much glaring at him at the back of his head. Being in the same room as him still makes me angry.

"And by the way, did you quote High School Musical?" Miguel asked me.

"Maybe." I rolled my eyes as I started to go back into the kitchen and continued to eat my burrito.

Miguel didn't say anything else, he sat at the kitchen table too and it looked like he was trying to figure out what to say. I'm somewhat curious because there has to be a reason why he's at my house. Especially at this hour of the day.

"You need to come back to the dojo."

"What? No."

"Why not?"

"It's none of your business." I spat. Even though it should be obvious as to why I won't go back to the dojo right now.

Miguel tried to keep his composure with me. He's really trying to keep his cool.

"I get it.." he said, "You're still mad."

"Ding, ding, ding." I said, sarcastically, "We have a winner."

"We need you back at the dojo."

"And I need a best friend who won't betray me but we can't always get what we want."
