*Eli's P.O.V*
"You want another tattoo?" Demetri asked as he walked up to me as he entered the tattoo parlor.
"It's not a crazy one." I said as Rico added the tattoo to my shoulder.
"I suppose that makes everything better." He said as he pulled up a chair to sit in front of me.
I've been mulling over the idea of another tattoo for days now, the concept slowly taking shape in my mind.
It's been a constant hum of thought, each passing moment drawing me closer to the decision.
And today, I just woke up with this clarity, this certainty that it was time to add to my story, to mark my skin once more.
Walking into the tattoo parlor, there's a sense of rightness, a feeling of coming home. The familiar buzz of the needle is like a greeting, an old friend beckoning me over.
I can't help but grin, feeling a rush of happiness that Demetri is here with me. He's more than just a best friend; he's a brother, a confidant.
His support means the world to me, especially at moments like this.
As I sit back and let the artist work their magic, I'm at peace. This tattoo, it's more than ink—it's a symbol of balance, of the harmony I'm striving for. And having Demetri by my side, sharing in this moment, it just amplifies the joy of it all.
I'm thankful for him, for this bond that goes deeper than skin. It's a good day—a really good day.
"So have you heard?" He then asked me.
"Heard what?" I eyed him.
"Sam is going to be at the beach with the rest of the group this weekend.." he said, "I found out from Miguel and Tory."
"Sam is actually coming?"
"I think from what I've heard that she is. Are you going to be okay?"
I sighed. "I don't know. Since the last time I saw her, I grew annoyed and was harsh to her."
"I know you told me."
"I just hate how she hurt me when she was in Okinawa. Like she really cheated on me when she was there for the first three months. She hurt me so bad."
"She does regret it, Eli." Demetri said, reasoning with me.
"I know she regrets it." I said, "But it's honestly hard to forgive her right now."
"No one is expecting you to forgive her right now."
"It just seems like it."
My best friend had a frown on his face, knowing that I am sad about this situation with Sam.
I sighed while the hum of the tattoo gun is almost hypnotic, but not enough to drown out my thoughts.
I glance over at Demetri, who's deep in his own world, oblivious to the storm in my head. He must've not see me thinking now.
The sharp sting from my arm pulls me back, a constant reminder that I'm here for balance—something I've been missing since Sam went to Okinawa. The irony isn't lost on me.
I can't shake the image of Sam's smile, the one that used to light up my world. It's been a while since I've seen it, and part of me is curious if it still has the same effect on me.
But then, there's the other part, the one that's still nursing a bruised ego and a heart that's been through the wringer.
The artist wipes away a smudge of ink, and I'm brought back to the present. This tattoo, it's more than just ink; it's a commitment to myself to find the equilibrium I've lost.
