Something is for sure going on between them.

"Mom, I want to eat cinnamon buns," Isabella said, distracting me from my thoughts. I know it was her way to drive away from the topic.

"That offer is only for Grace, not for you. If you still want to eat cinnamon buns, come help me in the kitchen, and I will make them for you," her mother said while looking at her.

"No one loves me," she said, and it made Isabella pout once again.

"Get yourself a husband. He will love you," her mother said, making her pout even more.

"Everyone loves only Xanthus and Erick and their wives. No one shows love to me," she said with a fake, dejected look in her eyes. I chuckled. She does that every time to get people on their toes. She knows how to make things work for her.

"Stop making that long face. I will make them for you," her mother said while rolling her eyes, knowing her daughter's drama very well.

"Yay, Mom, you are the best," she said while getting up from her seat and hugging her. She chuckled and then patted her arm.

"She needs to eat lots. Look at her. She has lost so much weight," Grandma said while looking at her. Now that I notice, she has indeed lost a few pounds of weight.

"It's the result of running from one ward to another and one operating theatre to another," Isabella said while sitting back in her seat.

"Is Danial making you work a lot?" her mother asked, and her body went stiff even at the mention of his name. Danial is a director and chief surgeon in the hospital where she works. That hospital belongs to his family.

"I think I should talk to him," Grandma said with a firm look on her face while still looking at Isabella.

"No need to do that, Grandma. It's my duty as a doctor to help every patient. Like me, all the doctors at the hospital are super busy, including Danial," she said with a tight smile on her face. I kept looking at her face, and I knew she was hiding something. Something was there, and she knew I would catch it, so she avoided looking at me. I will ask her when we are alone. We talked for some time. Grandma was already planning my baby shower with so much glee in her eyes. She is so happy after getting my pregnancy news. After lunch, Isabella dragged me to her room.

"So tell me everything. How did things happen?" She asked excitedly while sitting beside me on her bed. I took a deep breath and mustered up my courage to tell her everything because she would not let me go until I told her everything.

"It happened when my dad suffered from a heart attack," I told her everything and even told her what doctors told me. She is a doctor, and she understands this kind of situation. I can't hide it from her because she has been with me during my tough time. She had supported me a lot after I had an abortion. Not many people knew about it. Only Evelyn and her knew about it, and during that time, she stood beside me like a good friend. Dad was not letting any of them meet me, but she used to sneak in when he was not there. Erick had completely shut himself up after that. He had gotten a scholarship, and he left to do his studies. I felt like it was a betrayal when he left, but it was his way of coping with the things he was going through. I didn't know about the poison Dad had put in his heart. I told her not to tell anyone about my situation. Everyone is so happy, and I don't want to give them tension. She nodded her head in understanding.

"Don't worry, everything will be fine, and I will also talk with your doctor to know everything properly," she said while covering my hand with hers with an assuring look in her eyes. I nodded my head, knowing she would.

"Anyways, enough of talking about me. Now tell me, what's going on in your life?" I asked with excitement and a look of curiosity in my eyes. I want to know what's bothering her.

"In my life," she chuckled with a faint smile on her face.

"Same old hospital at home. Home to hospital. Nothing new," she said, shrugging her shoulders. My eyes narrowed when I once again saw a splash of pain in her grey eyes.

"Isabella," I took her name and then covered her hand, which was holding mine.

"I know something is bothering you. You can tell me anything. I'm here for you," I said while looking at her face because she was avoiding looking into my eyes. Tears welled up in her eyes but she blinked them away.

"You already have so much to deal with, and I don't want to bother you with my unwanted baggage," she said with a faint smile on her lips and unshed tears in her eyes. My heart ached when I saw tears in her always-happy eyes.

"Isabella, why are you thinking like that? Your pain is not unwanted baggage. You can tell me anything, and don't worry about me so much," I said while holding her hand more firmly. She sniffed with a sad smile on her face.

"Grace, don't stress yourself, and things are not bad, nothing that I can't handle," she said now, this time with a big smile on her lips.

"Anyway, we don't need to talk about it on such a happy occasion. Now tell me, have you already started to design the nursery in the house? Now you have to buy everything in two sets," she said, diverting the topic. I negatively moved my head but kept looking at her face.

"Good, then I will help you in planning," she said excitedly. She didn't want to talk, and I didn't want to force her. There was a phase in my life when I didn't want to talk, and she gave me space, and I eventually opened up to her in the end. Today I'm going to do the same thing. I will give her time, and she will come to me. Until then I have to be patient and keep an eye on her. But still, it makes me worried for her. Behind this happy face, she is masking her pain.

Why is she choosing to hide instead of telling me?
