He is the same old, selfish father.

“Please, Grace. Let me explain,” he begged once again with a hurt in his eyes. My heart ached when he said that, but I refused to budge. How could I feel bad for the person who wants to kill my baby? Even if I didn't want to feel his pain, I couldn't stop myself from feeling it. The fact that he is my father hurt me even more. I moved my head in negativity, refusing to talk with him ever again. I tried to sit up, and Erick immediately helped me.

“Grace,” my dad said in his defeated voice. My heart ached once again, but I refused to look in his direction.

“Please, Grace, let him,” Erick said, taking his side, and it made me look at him in disbelief. He didn't know he was taking the side of the person who had been lying against him in my mind. He doesn't know things he told me when I didn't find him. After I woke up at the hospital. I know all of them are lies because Erick would never say those words to me or our child. I was so innocent and broken from the inside that I easily believed every lie he fed me. I trusted him because he was my father. I clenched and unclenched my jaw, taking a deep breath.

“Ok, I will listen to you,” I said while taking a deep breath to gather my courage to talk to him. I saw hope in his eyes when I said that. I didn't want to, but I needed to know the truth.

“Before I listen to you. Answer my questions,” I said in a firm tone. He took a jagged breath when I said that. He immediately nodded his head after that. Hope was still there in his eyes, and it pained my heart even more. I took a deep breath once again.

“Did Erick sign those abortion papers willingly?” I questioned while looking straight into his eyes. His eyes widened when I said that.

“Grace,” he tried to interrupt, but I showed him my hand. Tell him I was not finished yet. He pressed his lips together.

“Did he say to you that my child and I were a burden on him?” I repeated the same words he told me years ago when I had woken up in the hospital. He gulped in fear when I said that, and it made my heart beat fast in fear. Those words haunted me till now. These words have tormented me to the extent that it has ended up pushing me into a depression. I heard how Erick's breath hitched when I said it. It seems like he didn't know he said all those things. Humourless, rless chuckles left my mouth. There was more than enough evidence that all the things he said were nothing but lies.

“Grace,” my dad once again took my name, trying his best to manipulate me once again, but this time, I refused to get in his trap.

“Yes or no?” I asked in a firm tone, once again looking straight into his eyes. He stayed quiet, not answering my question. A bitter smile formed on my lips. His silence spoke loudly.

“I don't think anything else is left to explain, and if I still choose to listen to you, you will once again end up manipulating me like you did last time,” I said in a firm tone while getting out of bed. Erick held my shoulder to give me support. The pain in his eyes increased when I said that. I walked out of there while my dad stayed rooted to his place. I didn't look at him. I met Lily, who was standing at the door. She had tears in her eyes. It seems like she heard everything. She moved forward and hugged me. Tears I had been holding started to fall from my eyes in her embrace.

“He is not a bad man, Grace,” she said, still hugging me tightly.

“He is worried for his baby like you are worried for yours,” she said while still crying. Her words pierced my heart, but I refused to budge.

“He has no right to make decisions for me and my baby. I'm more than capable of doing it, I said in a firm tone after breaking the hug. She nodded her head in understanding.

“Please give him a chance to explain. Not now, but when you feel like it. Please,” she said while holding both of my hands in hers. More tears slipped from my eyes. I nodded my head even though I didn't want to give him a chance. I left from there, and she didn't stop me. I kept crying on my way home.

“I once again lost my father today,” I said with tears running down my face. Erick held me in a firm hold, letting me cry. I don't know when I ended up falling asleep in his arms. The next time I opened my eyes, I found myself in bed. It was already morning. I sat up on the bed while resting my back on the headboard. Erick walked out of the bathroom. He then helped me take a bath even though I couldn't bathe on my own. He is worried that I will end up fainting like last night. I could still see how scared he was. Once I was done, he made me wear my bathrobe.

“Erick, I can walk,” I said when he picked me up in his arms.

“I know,” he said, but he still didn't let me down. He took me back to the room and made me sit on the bed. He was about to get my clothes when I stopped him and made him sit on the bed. He raised his brow while taking his seat. I took his hand and placed it on my stomach. He gulped when I did that.

“You don't want the baby,” I said softly without hanging a sword of expectation on his head. He took a deep breath before answering me.

“I do,” he said in his heavy voice. A weight from my chest was lifted when he said that.

“But I don't want to lose you. It will kill me,” he said in his shaky voice, which sent shivers down my spine. I had seen the same expression on his face when he talked about his mother. I took a deep breath. It was sudden, but I said.

“I want to know what happened that day.”
