PAGE ONE
Panel 1: Jade calmly approaches the arena, standing directly across from Ayuna. Kitana stands across from Kaida. Ayuna and Kaida both wear black masks. Ayuna's mask has red mixed in while Kaidas mask has blue mixed in.
Kaida: So you're Princess Kitana. I can feel the royalty emanating from you. I come from a place of high status as well you know.
Kitana: Really now? What is your status then?
Kaida: I'm the daughter of a queen as well. I'm a princess myself. Of course I enjoy the benefits being a princess brings. However I much prefer fighting, and I always believe in my kingdom and family's safety, so I took up a job that ensures I can get rid of our enemies.
Jade: So you've got a fantastic life it seems. Why work for Onaga then?
Kaida: It's simple. Loyalty.
Ayuna: Just like you and Kitana are best friends, Kaida and I are best friends. Since our childhood. We have each other's backs no matter what.
Kaida: When she told me she needed help in order to save her father and her village, of course I accepted.
Ayuna: We also work together on assassination missions.
Jade: I see. Tell me, do you trust Onaga?
Ayuna: Not for a second. Hageshi despises him. But the truth is, he knew we all needed help for different reasons. So he offered it...
Kitana: I see. Are you aware of the potential danger and deception he possesses as well?
Kaida: We're all aware, yes. We know he's powerful and extremely cunning. However tell me this Kitana, have you ever been in a situation where you wanted to rebel against the one you were working for but were unable to? I'm certain you have.
Panel 2: Kitana thinks back to when she was in Shao Kahns coliseum. She thinks about when she witnessed Sub-Zero being taken by the cyborgs, and how desperately she wanted to help him, but chose not to out of fear. She takes a deep breath and nods.
Kitana: Yes. I have. Strangely enough it was for Shao Kahn, but the one I knew was vastly different. I remember how I wanted to cut those cyborgs down and free Kuai from their grasp.
Ayuna: So then you know what it's like.
Kitana: I do.
Jade: Both Kitana and I know. However, we've already lost one home.
Panel 3: Kitana draws her fans as Jade extends her staff.
Kitana: We refuse to lose this one.
Panel 4: Ayuna responds by reaching behind her and pulling out two cylindrical shaped objects. She presses something on the back and they unveil themselves as two bladed tonfas. Kaida wields two chakrams.
Ayuna: Then we're both fighting to keep everything we've accomplished in life.
Panel 5: Scorpion and Sub-Zero give silent nods of encouragement to their respective wives as the two teams take their stances. Ayuna spins her tonfas around and charges forward at a blinding speed, however Jade moves equally as fast when she blocks an attack, using her staff to stop a tonfa slash. Ayuna expertly slashes with her tonfas, attacks that would take out a weaker individual, but Jade is able to use her staff to easily match and deflect the slashes. The two of them lock weapons.
Jade: That symbol on your outfit, does everyone in your clan bear it?
Ayuna: Yes, it's the symbol of the Homura clan. The name Homura quite literally means "flame" or "blaze".
