Chapter 13

PAGE ONE

Panel 1: Sub-Zero and Kitana are having tea, sitting at a table in the kitchen. Sub-Zero is in his MKX default outfit with the hood down and mask removed.

Kitana: This tea is amazing Kuai. So rich and vibrant

Sub-Zero: Thank you. It is made from an ancient Chinese mixture.  It's often said that this particular flavor tastes best when you share it with someone you care about

Kitana: No wonder it tastes so wonderful then.

Panel 2: Smoke steps into the kitchen. 

Smoke: Kuai, Kitana, sorry to interrupt. Raiden is outside, and he has bad news. 

Panel 3: Sub-Zero and Kitana follow Smoke outside. Raiden is standing there with a serious expression on his face. He and Sub-Zero bow to each other

Raiden: I am truly sorry for the intrusion, but it is urgent. Liu Kang and Kung Lao have arrived. They are currently attacking a city. Fujin and the others are preparing to engage them. I want to get one final training session in with you and Scorpion, while the others go deal with their forces

Sub-Zero: Why don't Hanzo and I just go now? 

Raiden: I sense that they are stronger than ever. I do not want to send you in without sufficient preparation, and I want to get last minute training done. Be at the Sky Temple. I must go to Outworld and go to Kotal Kahn

Sub-Zero: Understood...

Panel 4: Raiden teleports away.  Sub-Zero puts on his mask and hood, then turns to Smoke and Kitana

Sub-Zero: Tomas, Kitana, you two will be in charge of leading the Lin Kuei into battle. 

Smoke: Understood my friend

Kitana: You... trust me enough to lead your clan into battle?

Sub-Zero: I do. I know a capable leader when I see one. I must go now. Show them the true might of the Lin Kuei!

Kitana: Kuai, wait, please. 

Panel 5: Kitana gives Sub-Zero another hug, except this time she is clutching his shirt tightly, clearly not wanting to let him go.  Sub-Zero also holds her in a tight hug, neither person wanting to release the other. 

Kitana: I'll see you soon, right?

Sub-Zero: Of course you will.

Panel 6: The two of them let each other go, and Sub-Zero freezes himself before turning into mist and disappearing. Kitana looks on sadly.

Smoke: You didn't want to let him go, did you?

Kitana: I... I did not. When I am in his arms, I feel so safe, so secure. And, I've already lost so much... it would be unbearable to lose him. 

Smoke: Kuai Liang will be fine. This is the strongest he's ever been, at least for now. Believe me, I speak from experience. 

Kitana: I'm honored he entrusted me with helping to lead his clan into battle

Smoke: Of course. Kuai thinks very highly of you, and he always praises your fighting skills, intelligence, and your caring nature.

Kitana: He does?

Smoke: All the time. He also really likes it when you smile too. 

Kitana: I like his smile too... and his resolve, his fighting skills, his leadership ability...

Smoke: Both of you have many admirable qualities. I say we get going now

Kitana: Right 

Panel 7: Kitana puts on her mask
