Chapter 17

PAGE ONE

Panel 1:  Scorpion, staring a hole through Liu Kang. Sub-Zero stands next to Scorpion

Scorpion: I'll be handling him alone Sub-Zero

Sub-Zero: I figured. I was just wondering how it feels to be fully back. 

Panel 2:  Scorpion looks down at his palms, before clenching his fists and turning to Sub-Zero. 

Scorpion: It feels good. I finally stopped denying who I truly am. 

Sub-Zero:  It's about time if you ask me. I was wondering when Scorpion would finally return. I was growing tired of only witnessing brief glimpses of him. 

Scorpion: Even after our history, you were anticipating my return?

Sub-Zero: Yes. Even when we were enemies, I enjoyed fighting against you.  Now that we've both gotten stronger, I look forward to seeing the true might of Scorpion 

Scorpion: And you shall. 

Sub-Zero: Crush him

Panel 3: They fist bump. Scorpion walks to Liu Kang and faces him. Liu Kang looks up, being 5'10 compared to Scorpion and Sub-Zero, who both stand at 6'4

Liu Kang:  You take me on alone once again. Have you not learned your lesson by now? You are no match for me.  Without Quan Chi, you are nothing! You were much stronger when he had you under his control.

Scorpion: You dumbass. When I was killed, I was never forced to be Quan Chi's servant. I chose that path. I could have betrayed him anytime I wanted to. I was just blinded by his lies, which is why I followed his every word. After I was freed from his rule, I still retained the power I was granted. Now, I fully understand why.  This power isn't a curse. It's a blessing. It's a means for me to crush my enemies without mercy. 

Liu Kang: You're confident. It's going to be fun shattering that confidence

Panel 4: Liu Kang suddenly launches a surprise attack, a roundhouse kick with his leg covered in flames. Liu Kang grins-just to discover that Scorpion is no longer standing there. We get a close up shot of Liu Kang's face, and we see Scorpion place his right fist on Liu Kang's left cheek. Liu Kang has a shocked expression on his face, and we see Scorpion standing behind Liu Kang

Liu Kang: I... didn't even see you move!

Scorpion: Do you get it now? You are not a match for me. You cannot stop me Liu Kang.

Liu Kang: Impossible! I've beaten you before, I'll do it again!

Scorpion: You did beat me once, yes. But this time, I'm much more powerful. 

Panel 5: Liu Kang attempts to go for an elbow strike to Scorpion's stomach, but he hits thin air. Scorpion appears in front of him once again, his back turned and his arms crossed. Liu Kang goes for a punch, but once again misses. Scorpion is standing right next to him. Liu Kang lands a flaming punch right on Scorpion's face, and Scorpion stands there, staring into Liu Kang's soul, the punch having no effect at all.  Liu Kang lands a flurry of strikes, but Scorpion stands there, taking all off the blows effortlessly.  Liu Kang has a bewildered expression on his face, which quickly shifts to anger. He prepares another strike, when Scorpion lands a heavy right hook to the midsection of Liu Kang. Scorpion hits Liu Kang so hard that he lifts him off the ground with the body hook and causes Liu Kang to spit out blood.   Deciding to do further damage to Liu Kang's body, Scorpion lands a devastating right knee to his midsection. Liu Kang steps back, his hand clutching his midsection

Liu Kang: So you've become stronger... so what!  It is still not enough! Raiden chose poorly if he thinks you have what it takes to protect this realm!
