Part 2: Chapter 42

PAGE ONE

Panel 1: The four fighters all charge at each other. Scorpion and Quan Chi immediately engage each other while Sub-Zero and Shang Tsung begin to battle. Scorpion lands a flaming right uppercut on Quan Chi and follows up with a right knee to the body and then a jumping knee that breaks the jaw of Quan Chi. He launches Quan Chi into the air with a flaming backflip kick. Scorpion launches two of his spears and pulls Quan Chi down, breaking his neck as he slams him down. We cut to Sub-Zero and Shang Tsung next. Sub-Zero freezes the sorcerer and then kicks him in the head. He lands a slide on Shang Tsung and launches him into the air. He grabs him by the ankle and tosses him through an ice wall. Sub-Zero forms an ice ax and goes to attack Shang Tsung but he teleports away and appears behind Sub-Zero, knocking him away with a green flaming skull attack. Shang Tsung aims a green magic blast at Sub-Zero but Sub-Zero rolls away and stands back up. We then cut back to Scorpion and Quan Chi. Scorpion goes for a flaming body kick but Quan Chi teleports away in time and reappears behind Scorpion, attempting to stomp him down. However, Scorpion himself teleports away in time from the attack and appears behind Quan Chi, throwing a flaming left hook. This time, Quan Chi teleports and appears behind Scorpion, catching him with a left hook encased in green magic energy.

Panel 2: Sub-Zero throws a jab at Shang Tsung but Shang Tsung parries it and counters with a jab of his own. He then follows up with an uppercut and left hook encased in magic that breaks the Cryomancers jaw before kicking Sub-Zero in the head and blasting him back with a green flaming skull. Shang Tsung attempts to attack again but Sub-Zero sweeps his leg out from under him and catches him with an ice blast. Shang Tsung breaks free and throws a cross but Sub-Zero slips it and counters with a left hook, cross, left hook and right body kick that breaks Shang Tsungs ribs. We then cut back to the Scorpion and Quan Chi battle. Scorpion lands a flaming spinning kick to Quan Chis body, breaking his ribs. He locks Quan Chi in the Muay Thai clinch and drives knees into his body, further damaging his ribs. Scorpion follows up with elbows, slicing open the face of the Necromancer. He lands a flaming left uppercut and drives Quan Chis head into his knee before he disengages from the clinch. He takes out his sword and goes to slice Quan Chi but the sorcerer is able to blast him away with a green magic blast. Quan Chi goes for a cross but Scorpion ducks under and blasts him with a double leg takedown, slamming him to the ground. He then proceeds to land flaming right hands from above.

Panel 3: Scorpion goes for an elbow but Quan Chi blasts him off with another green flaming skull. He breaks Scorpion's jaw with an uppercut encased in green magic energy, then grabs his head and drives it into his knee. Quan Chi forms a green energy sword and slices Scorpion across the chest with it. He goes to slice again but Scorpion summons fire under him, burning him and stopping the attack. Scorpion takes out his sword and slices Quan Chi with it a few times. Quan Chi disappears and reappears above Scorpion, however Scorpion jumps in the air and spins them both around, slamming Quan Chi to the ground and stabbing his shorter sword into his shoulder. Scorpion twists the blade a bit, causing further pain to the Necromancer. The Necromancer grunts and goes to blast Scorpion off but the ninja teleports away in time. We cut back to Sub-Zero and Shang Tsung. Sub-Zero ducks under a jumping kick from Shang Tsung and slams a right ice covered uppercut into his jaw, causing blood to spurt out from his mouth and his head to snap back violently and his neck bones to snap from the impact. Sub-Zero follows up with an ice covered left hook, right cross and he then steps forward and lands a right knee to the body. Shang Tsung staggers but is able to recover in time and catch a kick to the body that Sub-Zero threw and blast the Cryomancer away with three green flaming skulls. We then cut to the spectators observing the battle.

Fujin: This is a close battle already. Every time one attacks the other has a counterattack of their own ready. So far they are evenly matched.

Raiden: Indeed. It seems like this will be a tough battle. However I have the utmost faith in Scorpion and Sub-Zero.
