Panel 1: Goro is first to strike,  landing his signature stomp on Kung Lao and breaking his ribs.  He grabs the monk and tosses him away. Kung Lao gets up and knocks Goro to the floor with a dive kick. He lands chain punches followed up by an elbow that breaks the jaw of Goro.  He continues the assault, landing ground and pound elbows, shattering Goros face with one of the elbows. Goro is able to blast Kung Lao off of him with a fireball. Kung Lao is able to land on his feet. He shakes his head. Goro moves with surprising speed and grabs Kung Lao with his lower arms, using his upper arms to land hooks and uppercuts on Kung Lao. He then palms Kung Lao's face, smashes him on the ground, and flings him across the arena.  He goes for another stomp but Kung Lao is able to roll away. He teleports behind Goro and spins forward horizontally with his fists thrusts forward, breaking Goros ribs.  He takes his hat and slices Goro on the chest a few times.  He throws his hat vertically and grinds Goros torso with it. Keeping up the assault, he throws his hat behind the Shokan prince and forces him into it as he lands chain punches. He then kicks Goro away and retrieves his hat. The Shokan Prince rises to his feet, grinning

Goro: Good! I am enjoying this battle.

Quan Chi: You two prattle on too much! What do I care-

Panel 2: Suddenly, Kung Lao and Goro both turn to Quan Chi with an angry glare, shocking everyone, even the sorcerers

Kung Lao: This battle is deeper than you'd ever understand sorcerer!

Goro:  This battle transcends beyond this tournament! Thousands of years of history are tied to it. With all due respect Quan Chi, stay out of it!

Quan Chi: They dare speak to me like that?!

Kayla: The audacity of them!

Shang Tsung: Be calm you two. They do have a point. I play a part in this as well, considering I was defeated by the Great Kung Lao and bought in Goro to defeat him.  There is a deep history behind this rivalry. In order to truly understand it, you would have needed to play a direct part in it. Kayla my dear, please, just be calm and allow this to play out. I am quite interested to see how this battle ends after all.

Kayla: If you say so my love

Shang Tsung: Thank you. Now then... whenever you two are ready to resume.

Panel 3: Kung Lao and Goro resume their stances. Goro leaps forward and grabs Kung Lao with his lower arms. He punches Kung Lao in the head six times before slamming him on the ground,  making  him bounce off the ground.  He walks forward, swinging his arms and hitting Kung Lao six times, ending with an uppercut.  Goro follows up with another stomp on the monk. He goes to punch down  but Kung Lao teleports behind him, grabs him and slams him headfirst to the ground. He spins around three times, launching Goro into the air.  He follows up with three dive kicks. Goro gets up and slams the ground with his fists, causing a shockwave and launching Kung Lao into the air.  Goro uses his Dragon Fangs next, landing three quick cuts across Kung Laos  chest.  Kung Lao uses his hat to clash with the blades coming from Goros gauntlets. The two of them look at each other and grin.  Both fighters are bleeding heavily,  but the excitement of the battle has yet to fade from their eyes.

Goro: A worthy opponent such as yourself brings me great joy and honor! It's been far too long since I've felt this thrill

Kung Lao: You're an interesting one Goro. You look like a big dumb brute, when in reality you're a strong, honorable warrior.  Be honest, even if it wasn't for Shang Tsung bringing you in, you would have competed in the tournament anyway since you viewed it as a way of bringing honor to the Shokan.  Is my assumption correct?
