Part 2: Chapter 49

PAGE ONE

Panel 1: We see the king putting something on his head. Soon, we get a wide shot and see what he is wearing. The king has on-Shao Kahn's helmet.

Raiden: S-Shao Kahn?!?!?!?

Shao Kahn: The king of the Underkingdom... is me. King Shao Kahn.  

Liu Kang: In our universe, you were our greatest enemy...

Sub-Zero: We had to push back your forces multiple times. 

Kitana: You conquered my realm!

Jade:  And killed our people!

Scorpion: You were even killed before. How are you alive again?

Shao Kahn: I believe I understand now. You must have battled a different version of me then. 

Johnny Cage: Wait a different version? So like, there's different Shao Kahns? 

Fujin: Indeed. Truth is, there are many different timelines in our universe. Satoshi hails from one of them. It's likely the Shao Kahn we see is an entirely different version.  

Raiden: You  have a point brother. I never thought I would say this, but I do not sense an ounce of deceit from this Shao Kahn. 

Liu Kang: Neither do I. 

Kung Lao: He actually seems...trustworthy. 

Shao Kahn: Thank you. I am indeed different from the Shao Kahn you know. 

Scorpion: Did you know Onaga? 

Shao Kahn:  I did. I served under him for a while and I was his most trusted advisor and warrior. Onaga sought to conquer all and rule with an iron fist, alongside his massive army.  Outworld was not enough, and we conquered many realms, including Edenia.  After Onaga conquered all the realms, he sought to conquer the entire universe. He had heard of this place known as Ada after hearing a fighter from one of its kingdoms had competed in a previous Mortal Kombat tournament.  

Tsusa:  That man was my uncle.

Shao Kahn: Ah yes, I had heard he was quite the fighter. However, while Onaga sought to conquer more, I grew bored with that.  It had become quite trivial. No, my interest was solely based on meeting more strong fighters. In all the time we had conquered, I encountered several enemies who were quite powerful and gave me a challenge, so much so that I wanted to battle those warriors again. However, Onaga killed them after each conquest, as he felt they were useless after I defeated them. This frustrated me, as I felt at the time they could contribute due to how strong they were. 

Jade:  The Shao Kahn we know, he would never be interested in such things.

Shao Kahn: Indeed.  Eventually, we began to argue. I no longer cared for such a meaningless act such as conquering, I only sought to battle the strongest. That's when we found Ada. Onaga had his army. However, they were ready. They had summoned their strongest.  Dante, Talon, and Damian are among the top warriors not only in the Underkingdom, but in all of Ada. Similar to how you have your top warriors Lord Raiden.   Naturally, all of them gave me a wonderful challenge!  They were fierce, and even proved to almost be my equal! It was magnificent!  Eventually, I encountered my dear Alice on the battlefield. Even then, she looked so gorgeous and determined. Ready to defend her kingdom. I was drawn to her fiery spirit. We fought, and to my joy, she proved to be my equal. It's safe to say I was in love. 

Alice: Even when we fought,  I could sense the good in Shao Kahn. I could tell he didn't truly wish to conquer, he was just enjoying the thrill of the battle.  I could also tell he didn't want others to suffer. He wanted to battle the strongest yes, but he confessed to me during our encounter that he would prefer to just fight and not conquer at all.
