Following dinner, Prasanna sat down with Chandrakant, aiming to shake him out of his melancholy concerning a woman who had outright rejected him.

Eventually, Chandrakant yielded to Prasanna's persistence and opened up to her about what had transpired that night. Prasanna couldn't fathom witnessing their friend Kant in tears over a rejection. She stared at him incredulously, "Kant, she said no," she shook her head, "You should accept a 'No' and move on."

"I'm not bothering her, no matter what you say!" he snapped.

Surprised by his sharp tone, she continued, "Whether or not you're directly bothering her, you're the one troubled by this situation. Either way, it's toxic. Why are you channeling your inner Devdas over something that doesn't even equate to a breakup? I just don't understand," she reached out in an attempt to console him, "Kant, this isn't right, this isn't healthy."

He jerked his arm away from her grip, asserting, "I'm bothered because I know she's not being truthful," he scoffed, "Being a lawyer means I can spot lies, and I know... It's her eyes, Sana..." he paused, turning to face her, "You know how many tales they hold for me, yet she sits in front of me as if it means nothing!"

Prasanna felt exasperated. "Whatever the case may be, her words stand. She needs to communicate her feelings clearly. Consent is crucial, and if she's not giving it, you have to move on!"

Chandrakant gazed into the distance, his mind adrift. "I should have done that, Sana, I know I should have..." he lamented, "But I just can't, and the pain is so fucking unbearable."

She cupped his face in her hands, compelling him to look into her eyes. "What's happening, Kant?" Her voice trembled, "You've faced countless battles, and now you're stumbling over this one," she wiped his cheeks, and he noticed her thumb dampened, "Do you love her?"

"I've never felt so vulnerable, Sana," his eyes welled up, "I never realized love could inflict such pain."

"Oh, Kant," she hugged him tightly, feeling his tears against her shoulder, "Think about your parents. They rely on you. It would be devastating for them to see their only son heading down a destructive path."

He wailed.

"You have to forget her," she pressed, "I know it's tough, especially with her presence looming larger now. But you've got to stay strong."

"I can't...," he sobbed, "Every time I look into her eyes, they reach into my soul, Sana... I've become someone I don't even recognize, saying rubbish things I never thought I would... What has she done to me!?"

"It's not her, it's you," Prasanna asserted firmly, "She's been honest about her feelings. You're the one complicating matters."

Prasanna felt compelled to set him straight; blaming the other person for one's own missteps wasn't fair. Chandrakant's illusions were his creation, not Devika's fault, and she shouldn't bear any guilt for them.

"Yes... She's made her stance clear," Chandrakant remarked, gently pushing her away, "I just need to verify it once more."

"Kant... Don't...," she cautioned, "Don't do anything that might jeopardize your friendship with Jaggy. That's the last thing I want!"

Wiping away his tears, he chuckled sadly, "No, don't worry... I won't sacrifice my only friendship because of a woman too afraid to acknowledge her feelings for me."

Prasanna rubbed her temples, "She doesn't harbor any feelings. That's the bottom line, Kant. Stop being delusional!"

He nodded, "Yes, it's all in my head, and I'll dispel that illusion."

As she poised to stop whatever nonsense Chandrakant was plotting, Unni sidled up to her, his presence causing her confusion. With a puzzled look, she questioned, "Yes?"

"Sana... I need to speak with you...," he nervously licked his lips.

"Yeah."

"Alone..."

Examining him with a puzzled expression, she rose from her spot on the shore and brushed the sand from her legs. "Alright... Let's go."

Chandrakant's lips curved into a knowing smile as he contemplated Unni's intentions. He had long been aware of Unni's desire to express his feelings to Prasanna; it had been brewing in his mind for the past six months, and Chandrakant couldn't help but feel a surge of joy at the thought.

Meanwhile, while Jagdish was joyfully stepping into marriage with the woman he cherished, Unni was mustering the courage to reveal his feelings to Prasanna.

And there he lingered, trapped within the caverns of heartbreak, ensnared by the irresistible temptation of his little minx's affection, his soul slowly eroded by the relentless tide of her indifference, each day and night a torment of unrequited longing.

A/N

Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar was such a headache movie for me, not for the plot but for the acting and screenplay. I mean I was happy with the overall story except for the ending but it could have had a better screenplay, everyone was on top-tier of overacting... I mean... Idk.

"O Bedardaya" is dedicated to this chapter.
