Jagdish lingered by the car door, his gaze locked on Nishita's frame. "Three days, remember?" he reminded her softly.

Nishita kept her back to him, feigning disinterest as she playfully scratched behind Bittu's ears. The energetic stray bounced around her, tail wagging furiously. "Whatever, get lost," she mumbled, barely audible.

With a gentle chuckle, Jagdish slid into his car and buckled his seatbelt. "As you wish, my love," he teased, a hint of sadness lacing his voice. He stole another glance at her, his heart clenching slightly. "Ae, Nishita," he sighed, "I'll miss you terribly."

A defiant smile played on Nishita's lips as she leaned down to pet Bittu, who playfully tugged at her dupatta. "Lies," she countered. "Isn't that right, Bittu? You're not a fan of the liar Jagdish Jiju either, are you?"

Jagdish couldn't help but grin. "Bittu seems to have stolen your heart," he remarked. "Should we take him with us home next time?"

Nishita's head snapped up at that, her smile faltering. "It would be a problem for you," she said, a hint of sadness tinging her voice. "And... He's too old for new environments, it's not good for him to move from here."

"You have a soft spot for dogs?" he asked, intrigued.

Nishita shrugged. "Yeah, I guess you could say that. I've practically raised half the strays in this area. They're fun to have around."

Jagdish gave a small nod. "Hmm..." he murmured, tapping his fingers on the steering wheel. Briefly, he focused on starting the engine. "Well, wifey," he said, his voice laced with frustration, "I really do have to leave now."

"Sure," Nishita replied, trying to sound nonchalant. "No one's holding you hostage, are they?"

A sad smile spread across his face. "Your eyes tell a different story, Nishita," he murmured.

She took a deep, shaky breath. "I don't know why," she admitted softly, her gaze flickering down, "but... I guess I'll miss you too. Now go before I change my mind again."

Jagdish's eyes searched for hers, "Look at me."

She didn't. "Bye." and with that she turned around and started playing with Bittu.

"Okay, then," he sighed, leaving with the disappointment of not being able to gaze into her comforting, steely grey eyes full of love.

"Would you like some tea?" Yashoda peeked into his study, her voice barely a whisper. She hoped to catch Jagdish at a quiet moment for a conversation that had been brewing on her mind.

A smile creased Jagdish's face as he peered over his reading glasses. He lowered them, placing them carefully on the side of the desk, and gestured for her to enter. "Come in, Maa. There's always time for a cup of tea with you. You know that." But a furrow appeared in his brow as he noticed the troubled look in her eyes. "Though, I suspect there's something more on your mind than just tea, isn't there?"

Yashoda stepped closer, her hand reaching up to gently stroke his cheek. "You always see right through me, Jagdish," she murmured, a hint of worry tinging her voice. "Have I gotten so old that you can read my thoughts now? Is it that obvious?" She straightened and took a deep breath, her gaze lingering on his face.

"You wear your heart on your sleeve, Maa," He chuckled. "No detective work needed. Your face tells the story."

Her lips curved into a small smile. "Veer used to say the same thing. Claimed he could always read me like a book," her cheeks tinted with pink. "Perhaps that's how he fell for me."

Jagdish's smile faltered for a brief moment. He swallowed hard, a flicker of unease crossing his features. Shifting slightly in his chair, he asked, "Well, then, what is it, Maa? What troubles you?"

"I want to talk about Nishita."

"Huh? What about her?"

A shadow flickered across her eyes for a brief moment. "Jagdish," she began, her voice turning serious, "tell me honestly..." she paused, inhaling sharply, "Why did you marry her, Sher?"

Jagdish stared back at her, his expression a mask of surprise. "Maa," he stammered, his voice laced with confusion. "What... What kind of question is that?"

Me: Yashoda Aunty, isn't it tooooooo late to be asking such questions or having this discussion?

Yashoda Aunty: But...

Anyway, Mrs. Singh is on a mission to find answers, and we should appreciate her efforts to understand her kids.

"Abhi Na Jao" by Abhay and Bhavya is just as blissful as OG version. (I feel like I have added this song to Krishna's story as well... Have been fan of Abhay Jodhpurkar from a long time, hehe XD)
