Jagdish felt a wave of reluctance wash over him. "No, Devika, please..." he pleaded, shaking his head in protest.

But Devika simply shrugged, her grin widening. "Oh, come on, Jagdish ji! Resistance is vain in the face of my pampering skills!" She flashed a playful wink at Nishita, who rolled her eyes in mock exasperation. "Besides, if I don't spoil my Queen's King, who will?"

Nishita couldn't help but chuckle at Devika's antics. Placing a reassuring hand on Jagdish's shoulder, she nodded in approval. "Let her do it. She already got my permission, after all."

Jagdish felt his heart swell with emotion. He understood the deep bond shared between Devika and Nishita, a connection that seemed to transcend the ordinary. Yet, what Devika now requested of him struck a chord so profound, that it resonated to the very depths of his being.

Throughout his life, Jagdish had reserved the sacred act of foot-touching solely for his beloved Maa, a woman whose love for him knew no bounds. She had tended to his feet with absolute devotion, whether it was through soothing massages to relax him, tender kisses as he drifted into sleep, or meticulous grooming of his toenails. Despite Jagdish's occasional discomfort with the act, his mother's unwavering conviction in its significance had always melted his defenses. To her, it wasn't merely a gesture; it was an affirmation of their unbreakable bond, one that transcended the confines of mere mother and son.

In moments of doubt, when Jagdish had questioned the appropriateness of his mother's actions, she had gently reminded him of her love for him. To her, he was not just her son, but a revered figure, a lord worthy of her utmost respect and adoration, and he couldn't take away such satisfaction from her.

As Devika extended her hand, poised to breach the barriers of his emotional fortress, Jagdish grappled with the turmoil raging within him. This was the highest respect a woman could pay a man and... Devika wanted to do that for him.

"Jagdish ji, you've promised to take care of my lifeline, my Nishu. This is my way of showing gratitude for that promise," Devika smiled as she touched his feet and craned her head to look at him. "So, please let me..."

He gulped and extended his right foot as Devika lovingly put his shoe on it. "Ah, now that's how Nishita's husband should look, stunning."

Jagdish's eyes shimmered with tears as the profound depth of Devika's kindness washed over him. She was someone incapable of malice, and in this moment, he felt the full weight of her genuine nature. His gaze locked onto Chandrakant, who stood nearby with a storm of emotions in his eyes. In a silent exchange, Jagdish conveyed an urgent message to his friend: don't lose hope in your love for this extraordinary woman.

Their wordless communication spoke volumes. Jagdish's tear-filled eyes implored Chandrakant to see what he saw—that Devika, with her boundless care and devotion, would go to any lengths to comfort the man she loved. Here was a woman whose heart overflowed with compassion, a true gem worthy of unwavering faith.

He wanted Chandrakant to grasp that this was more than a fleeting moment of kindness—it was a glimpse into the depth of love and loyalty she was capable of.

With a look that conveyed more than words ever could, Jagdish urged Chandrakant to hold fast to his love. A woman like Devika, with her rare and precious heart, was worth every challenge, every ounce of effort, and every triumph.

A/N

This chapter was crucial in revealing a side of Devika that Jagdish and his friends had never seen before. Although they had witnessed Chandrakant suffering from Devika's silence, they had never personally connected with her. Thus, Prasanna's and Jagdish's constant concern for Kant, especially regarding Devika, was understandable. However, now that they see the reality, they will likely try to allow Devika and Chandrakant to live together without much interference from their side.
