"Happy Birthday, my nanha munna bhai!" Jagdish exclaimed, slapping Krishna on the back as they embraced warmly. "Twenty-three already? Feels like yesterday you were just a kid. Damn, time sure does fly!"
Krishna chuckled, "You're getting old too if that makes you feel any better." He grinned as Jagdish stepped back and looked him over from head to toe. "What are you staring at?"
"When did you shoot up like this?" Jagdish raised his eyebrows in surprise. "You're practically towering over me now, and still acting like a kid, huh? No more nanha Krishna. "
With a playful smirk, Krishna replied, "Why do I feel like I'm talking to Nishita and not my Bhaiyya?" He jabbed Jagdish's stomach lightly. "Not even three months and you're a changed man. What has that woman done to you?"
Jagdish blushed. "It's not like that at all."
"Coming in hot for a birthday hug from my rakshas!" Subhadra yelled, barreling towards Krishna at full speed. Before he could react, she slammed into him in a tackle, sending them both sprawling to the ground with a laugh.
"Speak of the devil," Krishna winced as he scrambled to his feet. "Where were you hiding?"
"Why would I reveal my secret lairs to you?" Subhadra teased standing first and hugging Jagdish tightly before turning to face him. "Bhaiyya, how have you been?"
"He's very... very well," Krishna interjected, swatting her head gently. "Next time, don't push me so hard. We're not kids anymore."
Subhadra pulled a face, mocking him, "Waewaewaewae." She then clung to Jagdish, who responded by kissing her head affectionately. "Bhaiyya, I missed you so much."
"I missed you too, Choti."
Subhadra's jaw dropped, her eyes widening like saucers. In a flash, her head whipped around to lock eyes with Krishna. "Did he just... confess his feelings for me? Is this actually Jagdish Bhaiyya? Like, our silent, loves-his-studytable Jagdish Bhaiyya?"
Krishna's playful grin widened. "Well, someone's observant today," he chuckled. "Didn't I tell you he's very well these days?"
"Ah, very well." Subhadra chuckled, "I see. I see."
Jagdish's cheeks burned a furious crimson as he fumbled for words. With a cough that sounded suspiciously like a strangled squeak, he managed, "Uh, if you two would mind calming down a bit... we could actually get going somewhere?"
Subhadra bounced on the balls of her feet. "Bhaiyya wants peace and quiet? We can definitely do that! In fact, complete silence! Because the only voice that matters today is Bhaiyya's, right Bhaiyya?" she chirped, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
"Choti..."
"Bhaiyaaaaa..."
Jagdish's siblings' playful jabs were like a barrage of well-meaning arrows, and despite his best efforts, the corners of his mouth twitched to form a smile. He inhaled sharply.
Krishna dramatically backpedaled, eyes wide. "Uh oh, our Bhaiyya is about to unleash his wrath? Look, Choti, he looks very angry?"
Jagdish pivoted his head sharply, a wide grin threatening to split his face in two. He quickly threw a hand up, in a nonchalant manner, to shield his expression from Krishna's relentless teasing.
"No way!" Subhadra exclaimed, pointing an accusing finger at Jagdish. "Bhaiyya is grinning!"
Jagdish groaned, burying his face in his hands. "Guys, seriously?" His cheeks felt like they were on fire.
Krishna, unable to resist, jumped in. "Oh dear, look at that! Seems like he is blushing. Ah, finally a normal reaction..."
"Koi dil bekabu kar gaya, aur ishqan dil mein bhar gaya..." Subhadra belted out, launching into a teasing melody. Krishna, never one to miss a beat, chimed in with, "O rabba main toh marr gaya hoye..."
Before Jagdish could even register what was happening, they swooped in, arms wrapping around him like playful vines. With a mischievous shove, they sent him stumbling towards the center. "Shadai mujhe kar gaya, kar gaya, oye..." they sang, their voices laced with laughter, as they danced around him, their movements forming a playful cage.
Trapped in the center of their teasing spotlight, Jagdish's face burned hotter than any stage light could. "Fucking hell... Kill me now!" He cursed under his breath, shaking his head in embarrassment.
