"Well, it's official now—you're Mrs. Prasanna!" Chandrakant declared with a wink, a broad smirk lighting up his face. As they walked out of the marriage registrar's office, the atmosphere was charged with excitement. Unni and Prasanna, now blissfully married, had discarded their single lives like yesterday's leftovers, eagerly embracing the thrilling adventure of their new life together.

Unni, ever the romantic, gently removed his garland and draped it over his arm, pulling Prasanna closer. "Mrs. Sai Prasanna Reddy Unni Krishnan, my love," he announced, each word dripping with enough sugar to give an elephant diabetes.

"Haan, those fucking two-kilometer-long names of you South Indians," Chandrakant quipped, rolling his eyes. "Look at my name, Adv. Sahu. Short, sweet, and to the point."

Jagdish chuckled, "Well, in that case, Kant, your wife will carry your long name. What do we do with that, eh?"

Chandrakant shrugged with casual indifference. "I'm not demanding anyone change their name for marriage. Whoever she is, she'll be delighted to find at least one guy on this planet who respects women enough to let them be themselves and not just another Mrs. Sahu."

"Fucker, just shut it with your feminism bullshit!" Prasanna swatted the back of his head, her eyes dripping with annoyance. "It's not disrespect. I'd rather change my name than run around offices proving we're husband and wife."

Jagdish laughed aloud. "Family law speaks louder than words."

Their playful banter continued as they made their way to the parking lot, laughter echoing in the air. Predictably, Jagdish had assumed the role of their chauffeur for the day, a duty he often found himself assigned to whenever the group had an outing. Official or not.

"You said Arihant is going to join us?" Unni asked as Jagdish fumbled with his car key.

Jagdish nodded, saying, "Yeah, he mentioned he'd be around, but maybe something urgent came up." As he unlocked his car, he continued, "He's seeing someone these days, probably went out with him. He doesn't share much info."

"Hmm," Unni mused, "What about Nishita? Will she be joining us this evening?"

As they all squeezed into the car, Jagdish said, "She texted that she'd be coming with Devika. So, yep."

"Devika?" Prasanna turned to Chandrakant, looking for any signs of frustration, raising an eyebrow. "She's tagging along too?"

Jagdish sighed dramatically, "What can I say? Those two are practically glued at the hip, Siamese Twins could be separated but not them. And get this—Devika's moving to Mumbai as well."

"Yeah..." Chandrakant sighed, struggling with his seatbelt, "She's going to be my flatmate."

"What!?" A collective gasp echoed through the car.

Chandrakant huffed, bracing himself.

"Kant, what in the fucking hell, seriously?" Jagdish questioned, his hand hovering over the ignition. "A flatmate? Are you pulling my leg?"

Chandrakant shrugged, a nervous swallow betraying his nonchalance. "Jaggy, why not?" he replied. "She's looking for a place near her office, and I could use a flatmate."

"If only life were as fucking straightforward!" Prasanna exclaimed, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Are you serious right now? Just a month back, you were drowning in a pool of tears over her rejection, and suddenly it's like it never happened. What shitty magical realm have we stumbled into where Kant, the lord of selective memory, conveniently forgets everything?"

Unni remained silent.

"What's done is done!" Chandrakant raised his voice slightly, his annoyance peeking out of his calm demeanor. "I don't stay home much. It's not like we're sharing a room. She'll just occupy a small space in my apartmen—"

"And a large space in your head!" Prasanna interjected, fuming like anything, "Gosh, Jaggy, Unni, talk some sense into this idiot. I'm so infuriated I want to yank his long hair and land a punch on his face."

Unni chuckled as Chandrakant immediately tied his hair into a tiny high bun, looking every bit the reluctant samurai.

"My parents are finding a wife for me. Once I get married, she'll move out," he explained, to which Jagdish scrunched his nose in disbelief. "So, you can all stop acting like it's a big issue."

"We're not acting like it's a big issue; you made us believe it was!" Prasanna countered. "Talk about the blame game."

Turning to face her from the passenger seat, Chandrakant replied, "Sorry, I know I was being a drama queen. I should've handled it better. I apologize for being vulnerable."

"Shut up!" Prasanna couldn't hold back. Leaning in, she slapped his cheek lightly. "Fucking shut up! It wasn't about you being vulnerable; it's about how much she can hurt you!"

Chandrakant smiled feebly, clicking his tongue. "Not anymore."

A/N

Sakhilya, the embodiment of friendship, is the focal point throughout these chapters, illustrating how friendships profoundly influence our lives. Whether it's through blunt honesty, unwavering support, or providing a comforting shoulder to lean on, friends comprise a significant portion of our existence. While I acknowledge the vital role parents play, I believe friends also play a crucial role in shaping our perspectives.

I consider myself fortunate to have encountered a variety of friends, ranging from loyal and trustworthy to those who've backstabbed very cleanly. Being part of these experiences is enlightening; although some may leave us feeling disheartened, they teach us to place our trust in others judiciously.

Next up in the wedding sangeet playlist is "Makhna," a song that holds special memories as it was one of the tracks my friend performed at our friend's sangeet ceremony. It was painful to sit awkwardly while everyone was like, "Arey, suganthi beta tum bhi nacho." while I replied, "Hehe, nahi mujhko toh bhayanak stage fear hai." Because my kutti dost had prepared a dance number alone and I had to act like I had no interest.
