"I wanted to have a quick chat with the four of you before we leave," Jagdish declared, waving his hand in an animated gesture that directed his and Nishita's parents to take their seats. The parents exchanged puzzled glances, their curiosity piqued as if they were about to discover a hidden surprise. With eyebrows raised and eyes gleaming with intrigue, they turned their attention to Nishita, who stood resolutely by Jagdish's side, looking both determined and slightly nervous.
"Yes, Damaad ji, what is it?" Neelesh asked with a sense of urgency. "It's getting late for the bidaai, and we really should be—"
"Actually," Jagdish interrupted, taking Nishita's hand in his with a reassuring squeeze, "Nishita will be staying in Pune after December." He paused for a moment, scrutinizing their faces for any signs of reaction. "I believe she should remain here, where she can concentrate on teaching her students and preparing for her exams. It will be much less stressful than trying to juggle all these while also settling into a new life in Mumbai."
Indira, visibly stunned, choked out, "But, Jagdish ji, this will not be acceptable." She turned to Nishita, her voice trembling. "You're newly married. It would be better if you two live together. You can manage your studies later—"
"No," Jagdish interjected firmly. "It's just a few more months. The exams are in June, right?" He shrugged slightly, trying to downplay the complexity. "She already skipped this year because of our wedding preparations. I don't want her to miss them again."
"But, Sher, won't it be hard for you two to live apart?" Yashoda asked, her concern evident in her eyes.
Jagdish swallowed a painful lump in his throat. "Just six months. It won't affect us much." His voice wavered despite his determination, betraying his true feelings.
Neelesh, his eyes fixed intently on Nishita, said, "We'll see in December. There's still plenty of time to make a decision."
"Actually, not really," Jagdish countered gently but firmly. "I wanted to be upfront about our plans now so that you won't be caught off guard later. It's important to me that everyone is on the same page and understands our intentions."
Neelesh chuckled softly, his eyes lingering on his determined daughter. He knew that although Jagdish was the one speaking, the wish came from Nishita. Neelesh understood his impulsive daughter all too well and couldn't help but smile at how patiently Jagdish handled her whims.
As a father, Neelesh felt an immense sense of relief and happiness. He was delighted to see that his daughter was with a man who could care for her as deeply and attentively as he did. Jagdish's willingness to support Nishita, even when her requests were a bit impractical, touched Neelesh's heart. He admired Jagdish's patience and steadfast support, recognizing these traits as the bedrock of a loving and lasting relationship.
This moment reassured him that Nishita was truly in capable and caring hands, filling him with pride for both his daughter and the man she had chosen.
"Okay, it's good that you're being transparent," Neelesh said with a nod of approval, then added with a warm smile, "Remember, your home here in Pune is always open to you both."
Jagdish didn't fully grasp the deeper meaning behind Neelesh's words, but he nodded in agreement, sensing the underlying approval and support. "That's all I wanted to hear."
Veer cleared his throat to draw their attention. "Shall we go? Everyone is waiting for us."
"Yes, of course," Neelesh agreed, smiling as he rose from his seat. The rest of the family followed suit, standing up and preparing to leave together.
As they made their way out, Neelesh stepped alongside Jagdish, leaning in to speak softly into his ear. "You know, you don't have to agree to every whim Nishita has," he began, his tone gentle but earnest. "She's always been impulsive and a bit hot-headed, but if you handle her with patience and reason, she'll eventually see things more clearly. I can see how much you care for her, and it warms my heart, but she also needs to learn to shoulder her responsibilities."
Jagdish listened attentively, nodding in agreement as he absorbed Neelesh's insightful advice. He cherished the depth of understanding his father-in-law had for Nishita, realizing that Neelesh possessed a profound insight into her character, obviously, he was her father and he would know her best. This exchange served as a gentle reminder that his love for Nishita extended beyond mere affection; it also entailed a responsibility to nurture her personal growth and maturity.
He wasn't just her lover but her husband, a person meant to let her understand more about life.

A/N
I admire Jagdish's outlook on life. Despite being mature beyond his years, he still grasps Nishita's innocence and considers her growth. Isn't that just awwwwww. Okay, enough.
Also, I'm running low on drafts since I've been publishing faster than I can write. Just a heads up—I might start updating only one or two chapters a day after a couple of days, as I currently have only a few chapters left in draft form. I don't want to update unedited chapters, that's just not me anymore, I prefer giving quality content, hehe :)
"Falak Dekhun" for Jagdish's mindvoice, like always.
