It's that time of day.
You watch the yellow bus pull up onto your street, Dodger is going crazy. Running around you, all over the front yard his tail wagging as fast as you've ever seen it.
"Calm down, Dodgey. She's coming, I know. I know." Trying to console him, you've given up on chasing after him. Although Dodger is a good puppy he never leaves within a few feet from the house.
He's never even so much as touched the road, other than if he's taken on a walk by you or Chris.
The bus pulls up right at the end of the driveway after dropping off a few other kids down the street. Gianna appears at the front of the bus, "goodbye Mr.Adam!" Your daughter says goodbye to the bus driver.
Who was the sweetest old man ever, "Mommy!" She squeaks, and always seems to be so excited to see you even though you're the one who waits for her everyday after school.
Chris walks her out to this very spot but in the morning, then he hops into his car and goes to work, the love of your life being a firefighter does nothing for your chronic anxiety.
But god does Chris love it. The thrill, the danger, the fear, the hope and the pain. He says there's nothing else in the world like it.
And who were you to keep that from him? "Is Daddy home yet?" Gianna asks, holding a laminated blue paper which you assume is her special project for this Sunday.
"Bye, take care!" Waving Mr.Adam goodbye as he pulls away, you take your daughter's hand and lead her up the driveway.
Dodger licks all over her ankles, and jumps up on her. So she ultimately lets go to fall to her knees, "Hi puppy! Oh Dodgey."
Dodger kisses all over Gianna's little face, "come on you two, let's go." Rubbing behind Dodger's ears he walks behind you and Gi.
Chris is working a 12 hour shift today which means he doesn't get out until 8pm, but thankfully the firehouse is literally a block away where he can walk over for dinner.
He is taking the entire weekend off though, tomorrow you guys would be heading down to the beach house to spend two days of bliss there.
And for Chris to finally relax, he says it's for him to relax but you know he wants you to take it easy too.
"Mommy you didn't answer my questionnnn!" Gianna is a very sassy 5 year old, who is the apple of your eye and Chris's princess. She is extremely opinionated, supposedly she takes after you.
