Chapter 67

Skyler Reinhart's POV:

"If you're going after my brother then there's something you should all know before you do" said James before sitting down in a chair.

"What?" Asked Paris

"When we were children Joseph dreamed of having the Divine power that is passed down from generation to generation through blood, his obsession with the power that only direct descendants of the moon goddess possess was what drove him to work so hard training night and day, I never wanted to know if I had the Divine power or not mostly because only one sibling can inherit it and it's usually the eldest then from there it's passed down to their children.....but I looked up to my big brother so much so that I wanted to be like him"

said James before taking a breath.

We all sat down knowing that this was going to take a minute.

"So one day I decided to try training as well and in a few short weeks I learned skills that it took Joseph years to try and develop, that's where it started.....where I started to gain certain abilities unlike any other wolf, I was stronger, faster, and I could do the impossible even for werewolves, it took me a while to realize that I had inherited the Divine power but when my father and mother found out they were over the moon because in our pack the child with the Divine power is the one who becomes Alpha to be," said James

Everyone was listening intensely as he continued

"Joseph also found out when I told my parents and young naive me who only ever sought out his older brothers approval couldn't see the jealousy and hatred that stained his eyes, when I was 9 and Joseph was 13 he tried to kill me" said James earning a gasp and shocked look from most of us.

"What?!" I said in shock. How could a person do that to their own brother.

"Yes it was the first time I'd ever seen that look of hatred in my brothers eyes, when my father caught him holding me under the water of the lake we both loved to play in during the summer he was furious, my father.....you grandfather had my brother locked away after that, never to see the light of day again, some time later they gave brith to Julian and they continued on with their lives like he never existed......but I couldn't just forget about him even though he tried to take my life he was still my brother" said James before sitting up in his chair with a sort of look on his face that I couldn't quite grasp.

"The summer before I became Alpha of the pack your grandparents both passed away from an illness, I took over the pack and named Julian as my beta, time went by and eventually I met your mother and she got pregnant with you" said James with a sparkle in his eyes.

My facial expression softened as I looked at his.

"Even though my life was going great I still felt like something......no someone was missing in our lives so....... I traveled to where my father had Joseph locked up and I decided to release him, we talked and he didn't seem like the same brother I knew before so I thought he had changed that we could start over again......I was wrong, I brought him back to our pack and things were well until you were born and Joseph disappeared for a week only to come back hand to hand with our enemies......Joseph killed my brother and.....your mother" he said looking up at me with tears in his eyes that instantly made me teary as well.

"That beta that died protecting me who was he?" I asked, I've wondered this since Xavia first told me "Your uncle Julian, I'm sorry I didn't want to tell you because I didn't want you to feel guilty for his death like I do" said Xavia looking down at the ground.

"So she knows the rest?" James asked Xavia, "Yes I told her" said Xavia. I shook my head in disbelief so he's doing this for revenge?!.

"So this is all for revenge?, some misguided assumption that the power belongs to him?" I asked

"Yes he wants what he believes I took from him and what your daughter has most likely inherited......the Divine power"

"This dude is super childish" said Selena.

"Yes......childish is one word to describe my brother....but cruel is another, Sky" he said looking me deep in the eyes as he spoke.

"Do not go after him with the belief that just because your his family, he will not hurt you that is the furthest from the truth....it's because your his family that you should be cautious....he's cruelest to those he share blood with" said James showing me the scars on his arms.

I swallowed hard looking at them, those cuts were done with silver that I could tell because they left scars instead of healing like usual.

I looked up at James "You say that warning as if you're not coming with us?" I said feeling a little hurt, he smiled softly at me "I fear that I wouldn't be much use in a fight, he's drained me of nearly all my power for 19 years I'm much to weak to take him on.....I'm sorry" he said feeling ashamed.

I shook my head "It's fine you gave me useful information and advice I'll carry it with me" I said with a small smile in which he returned for a moment before his face went serious.

"Do not let him take the power from you or your daughter he will be nearly unstoppable then because he has most of mine already.....with half he is no match for you but full that's another story" James warned I nodded in understanding before standing up and so did everyone else's except for Xavia.

I looked at her confused "You coming?" I asked, "Not this time kiddo your father's going to need someone to take him home he won't be able to make it on his own" she said "Xavia that's not necessary" said James "I don't want to hear it James you look like shit right now and you can barely stand" said Xavia nagging James "Well excuse you I thought I looked pretty good" he said causing Selena and the others to chuckle and me to smile.

James winked at me and I chuckled softly.

"Ok we'll see you guys when we get home" I said, Xavia nodded.

"Get back here safe all of you" said Xavia.

"We will" said Paris before we all then left out of the hotel room door.
