What if I made out with your friend?
Said hi to Becky once again?
Maybe your eyes would turn to mine
Realize the friend zone's not our type

Becky's Plan - CODY JON

Y/N's POV

October 10th, 2023

It's been a few days since Brie's birthday party, and obviously, since Lizzie and I had our first argument in a long time, as well as all the encounters that followed. Our overall conversations were long overdue after we saw each other again, and since she found out I'm now engaged.

Everything I told her, I've thought long and hard about in multiple occasions, and I've been waiting for Lizzie to actually confront me so I could say what I had to say, without breaking down in front of her, and so that she could really get the message that I've moved on and that she should too.

However, I can't deny the fact that I do miss her a lot. She was my best friend way before we started dating, and I really enjoyed spending time with her. I miss teasing her, joking around with each other, gossiping about everything and anything, just being around her without feeling the pressure of saying something stupid and fucking things up. That's why I'm really glad we decided to end our feud and start over by building a healthy and strong friendship.

"Earth to Y/N? Hellooooo? Y/N!"

"Uh...yeah. What? What did you say?", I ask Becky, once I had finally come back from the trance I was in.

"I asked, what song are you performing?"

"I...don't know yet. It all depends on if the band is coming", I answer quickly, and Becky just hums at my words.

"What happened? You zoned out. What were you thinking about so deeply?"

"I talked with Lizzie last week"

"Lizzie, huh? I'm assuming things are good now between you two, if we're not calling her Elizabeth anymore", Becky comments with a smirk, and I just smile softly at the memory of us just talking and enjoying each other's company without fighting. "Woah, she even brought your smile back"

"What do you mean? I'm always smiling"

"Not like that, you aren't. It's not your regular smile, the one you give everyone, including Katie. This one is different. This one is all giddy, and relaxed. Very dorky, but it sure makes your face light up", Becky points out suggestively, but I just shake my head.

"Things aren't the way you're implying them"

"What am I implying exactly?"

"That Lizzie and I are back to being our old selves, but we're not. She apologized many times, which led us to talking about our unfinished business. Once we did that, we decided to be mature and work on trying to build our friendship back. That's all", I inform Becky, making her roll her eyes at me.

"First, I would like to point out that I didn't say anything about you and Lizzie getting back together"

"Because I didn't say anything about us getting back together"

"Yeah, but you thought about it", Becky tells me and now I roll my eyes at her. "Second, I'm really glad you girls decided to be mature for once in your lives and solve your problems. And now that you girls are okay, maybe you can finally stop lying to yourself and forget about that dumb idea of getting married without being in love", Becky tells me seriously, but I just sigh frustrated.

"You can be insufferable sometimes, you know? I don't agree nor appreciate anything of what you just said. And besides, you're supposed to hate Lizzie. Why are you defending her and supporting the possibility of us getting back together?", I ask with a raised eyebrow and Becky just shrugs her shoulders.
