Y/N's POV

December 16th, 2024

"So, what did the results say?", I ask anxiously after waiting for almost 2 hours for the call from the hospital. "Come on, Dr. Brown. Don't make me wait any longer. Tell me what the results said", I beg to my obstetrician as she stays in silence while staring at the piece of paper in her hands. I bite my lip in anticipation while fiddling with the hem of my shirt and hold my breath the moment Dr. Brown looks up and meets my gaze. She sighs profoundly, making my heart drop right before she smiles big.

"Your suspicions were right, Y/N. You are pregnant", Dr. Brown announces, causing my eyes to shoot out in shock. A few seconds go by of me trying to process what she said before my heart starts beating again and I'm able to speak.

"Wait, what? Really? Are you sure?"

"Yeah, I'm sure. As your doctor, I can confirm that you are having a baby, and so do these results. You've actually been pregnant for 6 weeks already so, congratulations! You and Lizzie will be welcoming a baby next year", Dr. Brown explains a little further, and I just receive the piece of paper with my blood sample results that says I'm 100% pregnant. I look at the paper and back at Dr. Brown a few times, to which she chuckles in amusement before speaking up again. "I know this may be a lot to take in, especially with all the stories out there about how hard it is to go through IVF and actually get pregnant and this being your first pregnancy, but you have nothing to worry about. Any questions or concerns you may have, I'm here to answer them and help you out. I'll be there with you every step of the way, on the medical stuff at least. Everything else, well, I think your wife would be a much better fit to help you out"

"Oh, right, Lizzie. I need to call her. She's going to be so happy. She's been waiting for this for so long, and the fact that I get to carry our baby is just...a dream come true", I say after recovering from my shocked state, a smile naturally gracing my lips at the thought of my Princess finding out we're having a baby together.

"I bet she will. But maybe telling her in person would be a much better surprise?", Dr. Brown suggests, and I think about it for a bit before nodding in agreement.

"Yeah, you're right. Telling her we're having a baby would be much better face to face. She's working right now anyways, so there's no way she will answer her phone if I call her. But that's better for me actually, that way I can prepare a nice little reveal gift for her", I reason out loud before sharing my surprise plans to my wife with my doctor. Dr. Brown just smiles and chuckles at my excitement. "Anyways, I uh...this is amazing! I still can't believe I'm pregnant! What...what am I supposed to do now?"

"Well, for now, I'm going to give you a list of supplements that you need to take during your pregnancy as well as a few dietary menu options to keep you and the baby healthy. Also, I'll give you a schedule for your monthly check-ups. These can change depending on your availability. We will try to accommodate the best we can, but I do recommend not missing any of them"

"You got it, doc. I'll be the best patient and come see you every month"

"Good. I think that's everything for now...", Dr. Brown drags out as she checks my chart quickly. "Oh no, wait. There is something else I need to ask you. Would you like to see the baby?", she asks casually, and I choke on my own saliva again.

"Wait, we can see the baby already? Isn't it too early?"

"Not really. Like I said, you've been pregnant for 6 weeks. You can see the gestational sack as early as 5 and a half weeks, so if we do the ultrasound today, we should be able to see the baby. It'll look like a little bean though. In your next appointment, however, which is in about two weeks, the sack will be bigger, and the baby will look more like a fetus. That's when we will take the baby's measurements plus the reading for the baby's heartbeat", Dr. Brown explains to me, and I just stay silent while processing how much my life has changed in the past 10 minutes. "So, shall we head over to the ultrasound room and check on your baby?"
