Y/N's POV

November 24th, 2023

I was just sitting at the beach, not far from the ocean, as the soft light of the sunset blinded my sight while the fresh LA breeze hit my skin, muffling the city noises around me. I took a deep breath as I felt tears start to fall from my eyes while I hugged myself tightly, not to feel completely alone while I continued to cry for Katie. That's when I felt a soft hand rub my back, making me snap out of my numb state.

I look to my side and see Katie's beautiful face. She sends me a small smile, but I too can see she has been crying just like me. There are big, dark bags under her eyes that she didn't even mind covering with makeup; the sunset reveals the tear tracks over her cheeks, and her usual upright stance is replaced by a slouched and defeated one.

"Hi Mo Ghrá", I greet Katie as she sits next to me on the sand.

"Hi Y/N", Katie greets me back, but I feel how my heart just got stabbed. She never called me by my name when we were together. It was either Darling or Mo Chroí. Oh wow, that was even more painful to think and say. We're still together, at least, I think we are. Unless this meeting is to finalize our relationship. "I'm sorry I took so long. I arrived like 20 minutes ago, but then I started crying and...couldn't really stop"

"Don't worry, I haven't been able to stop crying either", I tell her with a dry chuckle. "Did you come alone?"

"No, uh...Sean drove me here. And he wanted to come with me, but I asked him to stay in the car. This is something only you and I must resolve", Katie tells me, and I hum in response.

"I was wondering why he hadn't searched for me and killed me by now after I hurt his baby sister", I let out honestly, earning a soft giggle from Katie, making me look back at her and start giggling along with her. This was the first time we had seen each other since our supposed wedding day, and one look directly into her dreamy eyes was enough to make all the uneasy feelings inside me practically disappear.

"You don't have to worry about him. He won't do anything to you. Rory helped me explain to him that the one who canceled the wedding was me and that my decision wasn't your fault. That it was all me", Katie admits to me, and I just stay silent due to her words.

"Why did you cancel the wedding? What did Robbie tell you?", I ask her carefully as she sighs heavily before answering my questions.

"Well, even though he was super drunk, and I was still a bit drowsy since he woke me up at 3 in the morning, Robbie told me that you and Lizzie had an affair. I didn't want to believe him but, as he kept speaking and pointing out the strange interactions you girls have had ever since I met Lizzie, well...it was impossible for me not to believe his words. But what ticked me off and influenced my decision of cancelling the wedding was what he said about catching you both cheating on us"

"But that's not true, Katie. Lizzie and I never had an affair"

"I know, Y/N. I know you. You would never do that to anyone, especially not to me. After our poor love experiences, I know the last thing you would do to your partner is cheat on them", Katie reassures me, and I give her an understanding and thankful nod back. "The thing is, Robbie didn't stop there. Through tears and a very slurred speech, he revealed that you and Lizzie dated in the past, and that Lizzie had fallen in love with you. He said that ever since you appeared, you ruined Robbie and Lizzie's relationship, and that's why she had asked him for the divorce. I got really scared because, after what Lizzie told me during Brie's birthday, it was clear to me that she had some feelings for you. I didn't know exactly what they were, and I knew you would never leave me for her, but she had feelings for you, and I didn't know what her intentions were with asking for a divorce just a few days before OUR wedding"
