Lizzie POV
December 4th, 2023
I was just scrolling down my Instagram account when I came across another post from Y/N. She has been very active on the app lately. Apart from her regular dorky movie reviews and movie behind-the-scenes pictures, now she has a special little girl to take pictures of and brag about to the world.

I giggle at the post before leaving one of the first likes on it. I'm truly happy for Y/N. After what happened with Katie, she still got to adopt Cassie, and I can see she's enjoying being a Mama to her big time. And how could she not? Cassie is the most adorable and sweetest little girl I've ever met. Anyone would fall in love with her.
"Hey Lizzie, sorry for the wait. I was just making sure I had all the documents for today", Victoria, my divorce attorney, greets me as she arrives at the courthouse lobby.
"It's fine, Vic. My phone kept me entertained. And I don't mind having to wait a little longer if it means that when we get out of here, all of this will finally be over", I say in response as she nods in understanding.
"Don't you worry, Lizzie. The deal I redacted is pretty fair. Robbie won't have any option but to accept it. The fact that his lawyer called to meet up today is clearly a good sign that everything will be resolved very soon", Victoria reassures me, and I just smile at her in gratefulness. When I least expect it, Robbie along with his lawyer arrive at the courthouse.
"Good morning, Ms. Miller, Ms. Olsen. Shall we head to the conference room and meet Judge Smith to sign the papers?", Mr. Trapp greets us before getting straight to business. Robbie is behind him, standing in silence. Once we make eye contact, I see how his eyes immediately glisten, but before any tears can fall from his eyes, he looks away and wipes his face before sniffling and walking towards the conference room.
"Yes, let's go", Victoria agrees to Mr. Trapp's proposal before signaling for me to stand up and follow them. I stand up slowly, take a deep breath and walk carefully behind them until we reach the previously mentioned room.
We sit down on opposite sides of the long conference table in the middle of the room and wait in silence until the judge arrives. I was just fiddling with my fingers, looking at the big emerald gem on my ring finger. I still remember when Robbie surprised me with it, and how happy and fascinated I was when he helped me put it on. Back then, it felt like the greatest opening to a beautiful chapter in our lives, but I guess I was too quick to dream and fantasize about our happily ever after.
"You must be really happy", I hear Robbie say, snapping me out of my melancholic train of thoughts.
"What do you mean?", I ask confused, now meeting his gaze which isn't sad anymore. I can see the anger filling his soul.
