Chapter 11

It was now getting pretty dark, but they kept on walking. Loki kept insisting that it wasn't safe and that they should stop and get some rest
"How is resting anymore safe than walking?" Eira would respond
"Eira, listen, if we're walking we're making noise, if we're making noise we're attracting wild animals, we need to stop and rest for a few hours" loki finally told her.
"Well you're welcome to stop if you like, but I'm going to continue" she told him as she brushed past him.
"Eira stop" loki said firmly but she didn't listen, she just kept walking, leaving him behind, in a moment she herd him scream, by this time she was ten or twelve feet ahead of him. She quickly turned around to see what was happening. she saw a huge animal attacking loki. "Loki!" She shouted "Eira, run!" He shouted back. She could see the animal biting him. and stabbing him with it's claws. She could tell he was weakening, he was trying to fight back but only exhausting himself. She knew she could help, she could fight it off with her power if she tried, she shot it's face with small shards of ice to get it's attention off of loki. She moved closer and closer to it, continuing to hit it with ice. Finally she was close enough to it to stab it in the heart with a blade of ice, and It fell over dead. She looked down at loki, who was bleeding, exhausted, and having trouble breathing. "Loki" she sat down next to him and put a hand under his head, holding him up a little bit. "Loki I'm going to help you, you're going to be alright" she told him, tears running down her face
"Eira, there's nothing you can do" he said with a struggle "but that's okay, it's not your fault" he told her.
"Loki no, please..." She touched his face with her hand, he was cold and lifeless, she knew he was dead. "Loki no, please, don't do this. Wake up!" She was shouting at him, but he didn't move, she knew it was too late. She couldn't believe what was happening, she knew if she had listened to him, if she had stopped walking he would still be alive. She started crying uncontrollably until  Finally she heard something:
"Eira" she heard someone calling her name. "Eira" she could now tell that it was Loki's voice, but when she looked down at him he was clearly dead.
"What is going on?!" She screamed
"Eira, wake up!" She heard him yell again, in that moment she opened her eyes, it seemed as though they'd switched places, she was now laying in the ground and he was above her calling her name. They were in a different place and it was much darker.
"You were dreaming" he told her. She sat up quickly, out of breath, and threw her arms around loki.
"Oh my g- you're okay! alive" she said as she started crying. He put his arms around her.
"It's okay, everything's fine" she was shaking and he was trying to calm her down. "Eira, everything's fine, it was just a dream" he pulled her away so she could see his face "are you alright?" He asked, she only nodded. He pulled her close to him again and held his arms around her. Neither of them noticed that snow was on the ground all around them.
