chapter 52

Embrey was led by ten soldiers to the throne room for her trial, even though everyone knew how it would end. As they were leading her down the long hall of the prison, and up the staircase to the palace, she was seething in anger and hate toward Eira, she tried to hide her feelings, but it was all too obvious how she felt. She entered the throne room and saw the kind and the two princes sitting in their thrones on a slightly raised platform. Her hands and feet were shackled, and she was being led by chains. She came to the center of the room and was forced to kneel, the gag was removed from her mouth and she instantly looked to loki.
"I trust you're feeling better?" She asked with a fake tone of concern, trying to convince them she wasn't in fear of them, even though she was.
"You will not be the one asking questions" Odin jumped in before loki could say anything. Embrey's eyes shifted to the king, and she sent a look of disgust in his direction.
"You have committed several crimes against asgard that would justify your execution" Odin told her.
"I fail to see what I did that was so wrong" she said in an angry tone.
"How can you truly not understand all you've done?" Odin asked her, knowing she was only lying to them as well as herself.
"All I did was fight for what I wanted, just like any other person in this realm or the next." She said back.
"Unfortunately, everything you wanted violated the laws of Asgard" Odin told her, "you had my son, the prince and future king, taken and tortured, you tried to have Eira murdered, and sent spies into our home" he continued. "Do you not see how horrendous these crimes are?" He asked her.
"All I did was punish him in the way he deserves after the crimes he committed against you and Midgard. And as for him being the king... well he still can't life that hammer, so I'd say that makes him unworthy" she said, counting on the fact that Odin and loki never got along, and was trying to plant a seed of doubt.
"guard your tongue, witch!" Odin barked after what she said about Loki. She pulled back, not realizing that their relationship had been repaired.
"I see no further need for this trial. You have sent spies into asgard, you have tortured the prince, and you've sent assassins to murder Eira. Because of these reasons and I'm sure countless more, I sentence you to death. unless someone here would request otherwise" he said turning to Thor and Loki, both of them sat there in silence, both of them, especially loki, wanted to see her ended, and would never say anything in her defense.
"I would request otherwise" they all heard a voice coming from the door of the throne room, and Eira came walking down to all of them.
"After all, nothing can change that she is, in fact, my sister" She continued, stepping in front of Embrey. There eyes met and Embrey's were filled with hate while Eira's were rather calm.
"What are you doing?" Embrey hissed through her teeth, anger burning inside her, and if it weren't for the ring around her neck, she would have killed everyone in the room. "I'm saving your life" she told her calmly. She then turned to the Odin, Thor, and Loki.
"All I wish to see done to her, all I request, is that she be banished to Jotunhiem" Embrey's eyes widened. "The crimes she has committed were mainly directed to you and loki, if the two of you agree to settle on banishment, then so be it" Odin said turning to loki. "May I please speak with my wife and the prisoner alone?" Loki asked, Odin nodded and him and Thor stood up and left. Loki came down from his seat and stood in front of Embrey.
"If you don't want to spend the rest of your life in an icy cage, you will answer my questions" he said firmly to her.
"I'll tell you Anything you want to know. just please, you can't send me there" she said, trying to manipulate him with fake tears.
"There's nothing you can do to earn my sympathy, so stop pretending to cry" he ordered, and she stopped, her sad expression replaced with that of anger.
"Tell me everything you've done involving Eira, cause there are a lot of things that don't make any sense that I'm sure you could provide answers for" He said. "Like what?" She asked in an irritated tone.
"The prophecy, the soldiers trying to kill us on the bridge, the man who tried to murder Eira, who did you do all of this? none of this has made any sense!" He barked at her. She smirked.
"I've had spies here for years. Ever sense I left Eira, I sent in spies. When they heard the kind an queen talking about you being from jotunhiem, my men reported to me that you were a jotun, so I wrote a prophecy about you and Eira" she told him, with a look of pride in her face. "The men on the bridge were mine, After your father sent soldiers to bring you two home safely, my spies told me, so I had my men kill them and take their places." She said, the volume in her tone growing louder. Eira started to breath harder. "When that didn't work I sent an assassin to murder Eira, enchanting his life to melt through her armor" she continued, the tension I the room growing with ever second.
"But no matter what I do, you always survive! Why can you just die?!" She shouted, causing Eira to jump backwards.
"Why did you write the prophecy?" Loki asked.
"I wanted her dead! But I didn't want to spend my life hunting her down! So I gave that job to the king, knowing that once he saw her power he would panic! I never thought he would let you marry his son!" She screamed now fighting to get away from the guards.
Loki was starting to see the pieces of a disturbing puzzle be put together.
"And I was able to forget about you until my men told me you were going to be queen!" She screamed at Eira, who was now backing away, her heart pounding.
"You forgot about me? How could you forget about me? You set me up for death from the moment you left me as a child, and then you forgot about me? How do you live with yourself?! You're the most disgusting individual I have ever had the displeasure of setting eyes on!" She yelled tears running down her face, realizing that Embrey had been there her whole life and she never knew it. Embrey only smiled that same chilling smile that loki had seen time after time.
"We're done here" loki said, taking Eira's hand.
"You will spend the rest of your life in the deepest dungeon, no contact with any other person, and your powers contained" he told her, walking away with Eira.
"How can you do this to me?! How can you send me away and then love the man you tried to murder his brother?! I'm just like loki!" She shouted to Eira, Eira let go of Loki's hand and walked back to Embrey.
"You're right, you are like loki, you both tried to murder your own family, you both tried to take over a realm out of anger, and you both tried to justify yourselves. But what makes you different from loki, is that you've always been that way. When loki turned on Thor, Thor fought in the hope that he could bring back the man loki once was, and he did. With you, this is all there ever was, you never loved me, and I never loved you, there was never anything to fight for" Eira said, her anger now boiling in her heart. She walked pit of the room with loki, listening to Embrey screaming and cursing them as she was dragged out of the room and sent to the dungeons for the rest of her life.
