It had been a few days since Eira's funeral, loki spent most of his time in his chambers, the only times he'd come out was if he needed to, and even then he rarely spoke to anyone. But now he had something he needed to do. He walked down the narrow stair case, down into the deep dungeons, people were never held here for very long, but there was one exception: Embrey. Eira had requested that she not be executed and only be sent here. There were two guards standing outside the doors when loki came down. "Step aside" he said, they moved and unlocked the doors, letting him in. He came over to the cell Embrey was being held in, she was standing with her back toward him and couldn't see him. He cleared his throat, getting her attention.
"Loki" she said in surprise. "You don't look well" she added, seeing that he wasn't standing straight, and his eyes were red from tears.
"Eira died" he said, a tear slipping out of his eye. She faked a look of sympathy. He came over and opened the door to the cell, letting himself in. "If you're here to kill me, I'll just say 'thank you', this is torture" she said to him. He shook his head. "I don't want to kill you Embrey" he said as he came over closer to her. "I need you, Embrey" he said to her, she looked confused.
"When I lost Eira, I thought I was crying for her, but I wasn't. I was crying for you, it was always you, it's always been you" he told her, putting his hand on her shoulders. "No, no you loved Eira" she said as she shook her head and stepped away a bit. "You called her name every night I had you in captivity" she added.
"I know, I called her name then, and I called her name when she died, but I was just trying to convince myself along with the world that she held my heart" he said, he came closer to her and she didn't back away, he held her face and tucked a piece of hair behind her ear. "But Embrey, when you kissed me, I felt different than I ever had before and ever have since. I thought I loved Eira, but when I met you my eyes were opened, I tried to tell myself that I love Eira, but I no longer did, it was just one of my own lies, so good even I believed it" he said softly.
"But now that she's gone, I can finally have you" he whispered, leaning down closer to her face.
"Loki, I never wanted to hurt you" she whispered back. He nodded.
"I know, and I wish I let you kill Eira before, and maybe I could've had you sooner" he said back. She smiled a little, she knew she could use him to escape if she just played along. She reached up and put her lips on his, he kissed back, putting his arms around her waist. "I love you, Embrey" he whispered.
"I love you, loki" she said back, she opened her eyes and saw that he was in his jotun form, startling her a bit.
"I'm sorry, sometimes I can't help it" he said to her, stepping away a bit. She knew she'd slipped up, she only wanted to use his love to escape the prison, and if she acted like his form was scaring her, it would push him away.
"No, no. It's fine, I just didn't know" she said back, coming back over to him and kissing him again, a little more passionately, he then put his arms around her and held her against himself in a tight embrace, she leaned her head on his chest, pretending to love him back. "Embrey" he said softly.
"Hmm" she groaned back.
"You're a fool" he said harshly, she was about to pull herself up, but she felt a cold sharp pain in her heart, her eyes shot open and she stepped back a little, loki had an icicle in his hand with which he'd stabbed her through the heart. "You had Eira killed, murdered, how could you think I'd ever love you?" He said to her, she was still in shock, she fell to the floor.
"You tricked me?" She said with a hateful tone. "You have killed and hurt so many, I am not letting you get away. You have been executed for the murder of my wife, and my child" he said back, and in a moment, she was dead. He left the cell and went back out of the dungeons.
"Guards, the prisoner has died" he told the guards who were standing outside the dungeons.
Loki went back up into the palace, killing Embrey didn't make him feel any better, but he didn't expect it to, he didn't kill her for revenge, he just didn't want her to escape, she'd caused so much pain already, and he didn't want anyone else to suffer from her the he had and still was.
