Loki sat by a fire with Thor, keeping watch over the camp. it was a freezing cold night, and it seemed to go on forever, he had a blanket wrapped around his shoulders, trying to stay warm, but it was the middle of December and the middle of the night.
"Is Eira alright? She's never been in battle before" Thor asked, trying to spark conversation.
"I think so, she seemed alright when she went to bed, but I don't really know" loki said back, just then he heard footsteps behind him, he turned around and saw Eira walking toward them.
"I can't sleep, may I stay out here with you two?" She asked. Loki nodded for her to sit down and put his arm around her, sharing the blanket with her. They sat there for the rest of the night, and Eira had fallen asleep. the sun was just starting to peak out over the mountains in the distance, and the soldiers started waking up, getting ready for an attack. They all ate a small meal and then gathered their weapons. Loki heard a thud coming from the center of the camp, and before he could say anything, there was a loud explosion, causing panic and chaos, Eira quickly tried to contain the fire with her ice, but enemy soldiers were moving in on them. The explosion itself only killed five men, but the shock of it sent them into panic, and it took a minute for everyone to recover. Pretty soon the real fighting started, soldiers going at each other, tripping over the dead, fire was starting in the trees and bushes, but not natural fire, and not from the enemy weapons, loki knew it had t be Embrey.
"Eira! Embrey is here!" He shouted to her, even though she wasn't that far from him, she nodded in acknowledgement of his statement, and started looking for her. The thick smoke from the fire was blinding and choking the soldiers of Asgard, but the enemy seemed unaffected by it, they were used to it. Finally, after hours of battle, and after loosing too many men, Eira saw Embrey, she decided to go up against her directly, if they could stop her, the battle (and war) would be won.
Thor saw Eira going to Embrey, and remembered what loki had told him, he watched as they went at each other, waiting for Eira to falter, but she never did.
"Embrey please" Eira said, breaking their fight. "Stop all this, we can work this out, it doesn't have to end with death" she told her, trying to end the war. "You think you can change me? You have always been so childish" Embrey spat as she hit Eira's leg with fire, causing her to fall.
"Please, there has to be good left in you" Eira said back, trying to give her a chance. Embrey started laughing.
"Good 'left' in me? That would imply that there ever was good to begin with. and there never was!" She hissed, sending fire at her again, but this time she was able to dodge it.
"Have it you own way then" she said, striking her in the face with ice, causing her vision to go blurry for a moment, Eira took that moment to get up off the ground. Embrey now noticed that Eira had the neck ring attached to her belt.
"You're going to try to get that on me?" She said with a laugh. They continued fighting, using weapons, and their powers, and anything else they could find. Eira felt the anger boiling in her heart. She started to fight harder, she knew that once she got the ring around her neck the war was as good as won, finally Embrey made a mistake. Loki sent an illusion of himself to distract her, and it worked, she took a swing at him only to find he wasn't real, becoming disoriented but this; she paused in confusion, and Eira took the opportunity to take her down.
She knocked her on her head with a shield from another soldier, and then sent ice under her feet causing her to slip. She clapped the ring around her neck and pressed a knife against her throat.
"Order your men to stand down, or I swear on the name of Asgard I will slit your throat and end your meaningless life!" She shouted in Embrey's face, however, Embrey said nothing.
"Now!" Eira shouted again. Just then Eira looked around and saw that the fighting had stopped, and the enemy soldiers were on there knees, with their weapons on the ground. They must've seen their queen be taken down and surrendered. "No, no what are you all doing?!" Embrey shrieked as Thor came over and pulled her to her feet, putting shackles on her wrists and a gag on her mouth, taking her prisoner. =*****=
After they had returned to the palace, with Embrey and the remaining enemy soldiers as prisoners, they locked everyone up in the dungeons, except Embrey, who was being taken to trial to determine her fate.
