"Wha- what's going on?" Eira asked in a tired voice, sitting up a little.
"The jotuns are fighting" he told her quietly.
"How is that at all a good thing?" She asked, a little surprised that he was smiling.
"Because they're not focused on us anymore" he told her, she started to understand more.
"But still, we- you can barely walk, I'm not exactly- well I can't protect us" she told him. "I know. But I have a plan" he told her. She sat up straight and looked interested.
"Okay, it's not really a plan" he said and she slumped back down. "But listen" he said pointing to the door, they could both hear loud crashing and yelling. "We could slip out and they won't notice" he told her.
"Do you have any idea how insane you sound right now?" She whispered harshly "we can't just walk out of here-" she started but loki cut her off.
"Why not?" He asked.
"They might catch us" she told him.
"And what then? What more can they do to us? They can't kill is we're bait, they need us. And they can't really make our lives worse than they are now" he said back. She looked around for a moment.
"Okay, fine. What do you need me to do?" She asked, trying not to be afraid of what they were about to do, but she could feel her heart pounding in her chest. "I need you to unlock the door, after that just stick close to me" he said, trying to sound like he knew what he was doing. She opened the door and saw the empty hall, there were no guards in front of the door. They slipped out of the dungeon, loki could almost hear his own heartbeat, and Eira was just as nervous. They heard a loud noise and realized it was coming from above them.
"We have to go up and into the palace to escape" loki said, more to himself.
"There has to be a better way of doing this, we need to make a plan" she said, her voice a little shaky.
"There's no time, they're distracted, we need to act now" he replied as he gently grabbed her wrist and pulled her along with him, they came to a spiral staircase that they guessed lead to the palace. They creeped up the stairs and were about to leave when loki realized something.
"Wait, do you hear that?" He asked, she looked around but couldn't hear anything.
"I don't hear anything" she whispered.
"Right, me either." He said turning to her. "They've stopped fighting" he continued, they both froze, they didn't know what to do.
"The prisoners have escaped!" They heard someone yell, and then everyone seemed to be back on the same team, and were all trying to find loki and Eira.
"Okay, change of plans" loki said, trying to think of something.
"There was never a plan!" Eira yelled back, but loki was already on it, he grabbed her wrist tightly so he wouldn't loose her, and darted q
down the hall. They heard someone yell that they'd seem them, they both turned around and saw a few jotuns chasing after them, Eira sent sharp blades of ice their way, but it barely had any affect, loki looked around and aw something. "Come here!" Loki yelled pulling her into a side room. He went over to a pile of clothes; his clothes, and started fumbling around in them, until finally he found his knives.
"Stay here" he said firmly as he ran back out, as he left she could see two or three more of him appear. He ran out and started to try to fight them off, there were only a few of them, but he knew more would be coming and he had to hurry, he distracted them with his illusions and took them out one at a time. Finally he killed them all and returned to Eira. "Come on, we have to hurry" he said as he picked up his cloak and put it on Eira, he grabbed her wrist tightly again, and bolted out of the room. They could hear the frost giants chasing them but they didn't take the time to fight them off, they just ran, their hearts racing. Finally They came to the gate of the palace, loki was able to open it and the two Of them continued to run.
They got to the outside of the city before they stopped to fight. But this time there were quite a few of them, loki was doing most of the attacking while Eira distracted them and warned loki on any coming attacks, in a little while they had killed anyone who was on them, and they knew they were finally free
