Three months passed and there were no problems with jotunhiem or Brynjar. Loki and Thor went to vanahiem. Vanahiem had been a little but of trouble ever since loki had invaded New York, after loki did that, the people of vanahiem had been trying to rise to rule, so loki and Thor both went to make sure nothing was going on, as they did every so often. They came back and before anything could happen, sif came running down the bridge.
"Loki" she said as she approached. "You have to come, now" she said, jumping of her horse.
"Why what's wrong?" He asked.
"It's Eira, she's giving birth" she told him. He looked at Thor, they were both supposed to report to Odin what (if anything) was going on on vanahiem.
"Go on, your wife needs you" Thor told him. since there was really nothing to tell, he knew he could talk to their father alone. Sif gave loki her horse so he could get to Eira faster.
Loki got to Eira as quickly as he could. She smiled when he came in but it quickly faded when the pain started again, loki held onto her hand and gave her comforting words, trying to calm her as best he could. she was trying not to scream in pain, she held into Loki's hand more tightly than she knew she could, but nothing helped, she couldn't hold back her screams anymore.
"I- I can't- I can't do it" she cried weakly.
"Yes you can, you're doing fine, just breath" Afya told her, trying to encourage her. Afya was telling her what to do and when, and This went on for what seemed to be an eternity, she felt like it would never end. Loki never left her side, she kept glancing at him, somehow just seeing is face made her feel stronger. Finally, after what felt like hours of pain, she heard the sound her daughter crying, and it was over. Loki put his arms around Eira's shoulders and held her tightly and closely, letting her catch her breath.
"Loki" Afya said as she motioned for him to come over to her, he kissed the top of Eira's head and laid her down. He went to Afya and took frigga from her.
"Let me see her" Eira said trying to sit up, loki was holding her with his back toward Eira
He turned around and Eira saw her, she was blue, like loki, because she was half jotun.
He didn't know what to say, he didn't know if she'd be upset or not, and he also was upset that now his daughter would have to go through life being a jotun on asgard. But Eira didn't care if she had a jotun form or not, she was smiling happily looking at her beautiful little girl. As soon as loki gave frigga to Eira, she shifted to an Asgardian form. Eira looked up at loki with a bright smile.
"She's like you" she said happily, loki smiled, he was sorry she had to be a jotun on asgard, but at least she was like him, and only had to deal with that when in contact with other jotuns. He sat down next to Eira, both of them beaming with joy. Loki then started to laugh a little, he couldn't believe that this was real, he never thought he would be a father.
"What's so funny?" Eira asked, loki shook his head.
"Nothing, she's just- she's so beautiful" he said, looking at her with a smile.
"Just like her mother" he continued, moving some hair out of her face. She giggled a little, she felt anything but beautiful right now, she was sweaty and exhausted, and pretty much a complete mess. but she knew what he meant, he always thought she was beautiful, even if she didn't /look/ pretty. Loki took Frigga back from Eira.
"You should rest, sweetheart" he said, kissing her forehead. She wanted to hold Frigga, but she also knew loki was right and she should rest. Loki handed frigga back to Afya so she could properly bathe and swaddle her. He looked up, and across the room he saw his mother, love same way as he did when he got engaged, and when he had recovered from his experience on muspelhiem. She had that same look she did the last time, she looked angry with him. (Cont)He closed his eyes.
'You're not my mother' he thought to himself 'my mother loved me even when I was unloveable, she always stuck by me and she never lost hope in me. You're nothing but my mind playing games with me, my guilt coming to the surface' he continued to think, he opened his eyes and the image Of his mother was gone. Afya came to him and held Frigga out for him to hold.
"I don't think-" he started, but was cut off.
"She's your daughter, even if you two turn blue when you touch, she'll always want her dad to hold her" Afya told him, knowing he was only refusing because he was self conscious. He smiled and took Frigga into his arms. Her small body, her tiny hands gripping his finger, her little cries; it all made him both immeasurably happy and a little afraid to be a father.
