Two months. That's how long it had been since Eira died, and, for the most part, loki was finally able to be himself again. For a long time he felt like people were being too careful around him, they were just trying not to say or do anything that would make him think of her, but it was obvious, which made him feel awkward and uncomfortable, but as soon as he was able to get his sense of humor back, things started to fall back into normal routine. He still spent most of his time alone, but he'd always been a bit of a loner. But he Did try to get out and talk to people more, or at least say hello. He was going to go train, it had been too long since he'd fought and he didn't want to get rusty. He went to the training arena and started to fight, at first he was a little out of it, but after a while he was able to get back into the swing of things. "Loki, father want's to speak with you" Thor said, interrupting the training. Loki nodded, knowing there wasn't a way out of it even though he wanted to kept fighting. He left the arena and met Thor inside. "Do you know why?" He asked, Thor shook his head. "He didn't say" He replied, loki nodded and headed to his chambers to clean himself up. He went in, got undressed, and took a quick shower. After, While he was getting dressed again, he caught a glance of the note on his mantle, he still hadn't opened it. He leaned on the mantle looking at it before picking it up, he never opened or read it, he kept picking it up and deciding to, but never actually did. he didn't really know why, it just always felt wrong. He heard a light knock on the door, he forgot about the king wanting to talk to him.
"Come in" he said, grabbing his shirt to put on. A maid came in talking.
"Your highness, the king is-" she started, but quickly turned around when she saw that he wasn't fully dressed yet. "I'm so sorry, I thought you said to come in" she said quickly. "I did say to come in, I thought you were my brother, I apologize" he said, seeing how uncomfortable she was. "I'm done now. What did you want to tell me?" He added after he put a shirt on. She turned back around.
"I just wanted to tell you that the king is waiting for you" she said back, still not making eye contact. "Thank you, will you tell him I'll just be a moment?" He asked, she nodded and started to leave.
"What's your name?" He asked before she left.
"I'm sorry what?" She said in confusion, she didn't really know why he'd care about her name.
"What's your name?" He repeated.
"Oh, it's Qadira" she said back with a smile. "Well thank you, Qadira. And I apologize again for not being fully dressed when you came in" he said back. She smiled brightly.
"No need to apologize to me you highness" she said a little shyly before she left. Loki finished getting ready and in a few minutes he left his room, he headed to the throne room where Odin would be. "You wanted to speak with me?" He asked as he entered.
"Yes. I wanted to talk to you about something, and I hope it's not too soon" Odin replied.
'Great, he wants to talk about Eira' loki instantly thought.
"What's wrong?" He asked. "Loki, you were going to be crowned king, obviously that was put off, but I think you're ready now" Odin said back. loki was a little surprised, he didn't think he'd be hearing this for a long time.
"Father I don't- I'm not sure that's the best idea" loki said back.
"Why not?" Odin asked.
"It's just- loosing Eira ruined me for a Long time, I hurt myself and even a few other people, and I was far to pleases when you asked me to execute Embrey. I just think maybe I have to vengeful a nature" loki answered, it killed him to say it, he still wanted the throne, but he was desperately trying to do the right thing after years of mistakes. "I was the one who told you to execute Embrey. It wasn't revenge" Odin replied.
"But I wanted to, I liked it." Loki said.
"Loki, the fact that you are able to recognize your faults and tell me you're not ready for this, is the very reason I know you are" odin said back. "You will make a great king, you've become a great man" he added.
Loki felt happy, genuinely happy, not because he was getting what he wanted, but because Odin was telling him he was worthy of the throne.
"Do you still want to be king?" Odin asked. Loki thought for a moment then nodded.
"Yes, very much" he replied, of course he still did, it's what he'd been wanting it far too long.
"Then I'll start making preparations" Odin said with a slight smile. Loki nodded and started to leave.
"I have one request" he said as he turned back around.
"And that is?" Odin asked.
"May the coronation take place on the twenty-first of November?" He asked, Odin looked very confused, that wouldn't be for another seven months.
"Why?" He asked. Loki felt a slight lump in his throat. "It's Eira birthday" he explained quickly. Odin nodded.
"Then that's when it will be" he said back. Loki nodded and left. He headed back to his room, but someone crashed into him.
"I'm so sorry your highness I wasn't looking" it was Quadira again. "Well now you got me back for not being dressed when you came in" he said jokingly, she kept her eyes on the ground.
"I'm sorry again" she said as she started to walk off.
"Will you walk with me?" He asked.
"What?" She asked.
"I was going to take a walk and would like some company" he said to her. "Of course" she said, following him outside.
