"Eira, wake up" loki whispered, shaking her shoulder slightly to wake her. It had been a week since they killed gollum. and now, finally, real perpetrations were being made for Loki's coronation. "Loki, what are you doing?" She groaned as she slowly woke.
"Come on, we have to hurry" he said, still in a whisper.
"Why, what's wrong?" She asked as she sat up. It was early morning and the sun hadn't even come up yet. "Nothing, I just need you to get up and put on your armor" he told her. "Why?" She asked, she was tired and didn't feel like getting up and putting on cold uncomfortable armor.
"Just do it" he said as he kissed her temple. She sighed and got out of bed, knowing he wasn't going to give in and let her sleep. In a few minutes she was fully awake and dressed in her armor. "You going to tell me what's going on?" She Asked as she came out of their room and found loki waiting outside. "It's too hard to explain, but the king ordered me to take you somewhere" he told her, with an almost urgent tone.
"Where?" She asked.
"Please just come with me" he said. They left the palace and started walking, it was dark, and Eira guessed it was the middle of the night. Pretty soon they came to the base of a mountain.
"Oh don't tell me-" she said.
"Sorry, kings orders." He told her "but stay in front of me, it's a bit of a rough climb and I want to be able to see you" he told her. She tried not to look as annoyed as she was. They started hiking up the mountain, it had a trail, but it was narrow and rough. In a few hours they entered a cave.
"Loki, what are we doing here?" She asked, just wanting a simple explanation.
"It's just through here and then it'll all make sense" he told her. They went into the cave and he held her hand so she wouldn't get lost, in just a little while they could see the light at the end, and he knew they were finally there. "Okay, close your eyes" he told her.
"Close my- are you crazy? It's wet" she said back. He gave her a pleading look that she couldn't resist.
"Fine" she said in annoyance, and closed her eyes. He held onto her shoulders and guided her through the exit of the cave, she couldn't see anything,
but she could hear the loud crashing of a waterfall. "Okay, open your eyes" he told her. She opened her eyes and saw the most beautiful sight she'd ever seen;
A mountain top covered in grass, a waterfall that made the beautiful crashing sound as it hit the rocks below it, and poured into a river which trailed off into another waterfall. When the light dew on the ends of the blades off grass caught the sun, it sparkled and looked like a sea of stars.
"Loki what-" she was now smiling and trying to figure out what was going on. Loki- who was standing behind her- put his hands on her shoulders and turned her a bit, showing her a soft rug that was set like a dining table for two. The whole setup was so beautiful that she couldn't find words.
"What is all this?" She finally asked, but not in the irritated tone see been using all morning.
"This, my dear, is you and I spending the day on top of the most beautiful mountain in Asgard" he told her, coming in front of her.
"But you said the king had orders for us" she said, still with the brightest smile.
"He did. he told me to take you out for the day, to spend my last day before I become king with the most important person in the world to me" he told her. She just kept smiling before he leaned down and lightly kissed her. In the middle of the kiss, She felt the weight of her armor disappear, and when she looked down at herself she saw that her silver and black armor was replaced with an ankle length gown of the same colors, it had several layers of the most thin delicate fabric, in fact it was so light that even in the small breeze it was flowing behind her, framing her body perfectly.
"I love you" she said softly, putting her arms around his neck.
"I sure hope so" he said as he put his arms around her waist and pulled her closer to him. "Cause you have no idea how hard this was to set up" he added jokingly. He took her hand and guided her to sit down with him, they both ate and talked, and just enjoyed each others company.
The morning past and it was now mid afternoon, with every new hour of the day there was a new beautiful sight to see on the mountain; the bright afternoon sun reflected on the water droplets from the waterfall causing several full rainbows, it reflected on the water in the river making it look like a river of diamonds, and The flowers in the vines hanging over the mouth of the cave opened up showing their beautiful colors. Loki had moved aside all the dishes they were eating on, and the two I them laid down on the carpet in the shade of a rock, he had his arm around her shoulder, and she was resting her head on his chest.
"I wish this would never end" she said as she felt the steady rise and fall of his breathing, listening to the sound of the waterfall.
"Me too" he agreed. "Let's not go back" she said. "I wish" he said back.
"But let's not. let's just stay here, just the two of us, live out our lives without needing to worry about the frost giants, or my sister, or whatever horror the world throws at us next. Let just pretend there's no one else in the universe" she said.
"That sounds amazing. Stay here, away from everyone and everything, just us two, it sounds wonderful. I wish it was possible" he said as they both sat up. "I just don't want to leave. All this, all of today was perfect, flawless. I'm just so afraid of going home knowing some problem is going to surface at some point" she said, a hint of sadness in her tone.
" I know, I am too. But like you said, it's home, I have my brother and father, you have all the friends you've made over the past few years, it's where we belong" he told her, she smiled slightly. "I can make you a deal though" he added.
"What's the deal?" She asked.
"We can stay up here overnight" he told her, she smiled.
"But we can't, tomorrow's your coronation" she said back.
"Not till later in the day, we'll be back in plenty of time" he shrugged. They stayed there all day, and then as night came they laid down together
And just looked up at the stars, until they finally fell asleep in each others arms, feeling like the world was perfect.
