Hiemdal was standing in the observatory as he did everyday, when he heard someone entering.
"Greetings, lady Eira" he said in his deep voice.
"How could you tell it was me?" She asked with a slight giggle.
"Your footsteps are softer than those of any other" he said turning his head towards her and smiling. "What brings you here this day?" He asked.
"Honestly, I wanted to get away for all the people" she told him "I used to live alone, so sometime knowing hundreds of soldiers and healers, and just people are in the same home as I am, can be overwhelming" she told him walking over and standing next to him, looking at the stars. A more serious look, came over his face.
"Lady Eira, run back to the palace and inform the king that we are under attack" he told her. She ran down the bridge. "Thor! Loki!" She shouted coming to the end, not even knowing if they could hear her, or if they were even there "we're under attack!" She ran into the palace shouting as she ran. She busted into the throne room.
"My king" she said breathlessly "heimdall has informed me that the palace is under attack" she told him, not bothering to wait for him to address her. Odin began giving orders and commands to the guards.
"Lady Eira, go prepare yourself for battle" he told her. She quickly left and ran to arm herself. Thor, Loki, and the worriers had already been informed of the attack and were preparing themselves. As Eira took hold of her bow, an explosion hit the side of the palace, everything was in an uproar, enemy ships crashing down walls, firing at the palace, their soldiers entering and attacking the Asgardian worriers, in what seemed to be no time at all, the peace of the day seemed to be long forgotten. The enemy's soldiers were flaming and deadly to come near. Thor soon recognized them as the eldjötnar. "Eira! Try to keep back the fire as much as you can!" She heard Loki command her. He wanted to keep her safe, but he couldn't put that above the safety of Asgard, she had the power to stop them, and he knew she had to use it, even if he didn't like it.
More and more soldiers kept coming, more and more ships kept crashing, or sending bombs into the walls and pillars of the palace. Thor started to wonder why the shields hadn't been put up.
"Loki, go activate the shields!" He instructed, Loki ran down the halls and down the stairs, he ran into the room from where the shields were controlled and found hiemdall lying unconscious on the ground, blood dripping from a wound on his head. Loki knelt down to make sure he was still alive, upon finding that he was, Loki went to activate the shields. Right before he turned them on he felt a cold band clasp around his neck, he turned around and saw three eldjötnar standing behind him.
Meanwhile, Thor and Eira were noticing that the eldjötnar had stopped sending in soldiers, in fact, they were able to stop their army completely. At first Thor was overjoyed with their victory, until he realized that the shields had never been put up, and Loki still hadn't returned. "Where's Loki!?" He demanded, no one volunteered an answer. Thor looked at Eira and the two of them darted for the shield room, when they got there they found hiemdall, but not Loki. They called guards to take hiemdall to the healing room, then began to search for Loki.
"Thor" Eira called "there's blood on the stairs" she said, racing back up the stairs, following the trail of blood. finally they entered a room and saw the three eldjötnar, dragging Loki, who was now unconscious, towards the balcony. Two of them let go of Loki, and started attacking on Thor and Eira. caught up in trying to defend themselves, they couldn't see the third drag Loki over the edge of the balcony, and into their ship. They were able to kill both the eldjötnar, but the third, their ship, and Loki, were now nowhere to be seen.
"Loki!" Eira shouted, leaning over the balcony.
"Loki!" She cried again, this time with a sob in her voice.
