Loki held Eira for a moment more, she was still crying and shivering but he knew he had to let her go. He gently laid her back down on the healing table.
"Loki, please" she said holding onto him
"I need to let them finish taking care of you, but I'll be waiting right outside" he told her laying her down. Loki left the room and continued walking back and fourth outside, he was still anxious. "How is she?" He heard Thor ask, he didn't even know he was still there "I uhh..... I think she's going to be fine, but I'm not sure" he said messing with his hands
"Hey, Loki, calm down, I'm sure she'll be fine" Thor said putting a hand on his brothers shoulder, he could tell how nervous loki was and knew that it wouldn't help the situation "Why don't you walk away from here and think about something else, you're just going to make yourself crazy" Thor suggested "Thor, I already am crazy" he said back "and I told her I'd wait out here for her, so I'm staying here" he said definitively. Thor nodded "So be it" he said "but if I come back and you're going insane, I will drag you away and lock you in your chambers" he said half jokingly. Loki sat there and waited for hours, it seemed like an eternity, he didn't know any one thing could take this long, finally one of them came out. "Your highness" she addressed him, he jumped up from his seat "Is she okay" he demanded "She'll live" the healer replied "Is she.... Dressed? Can I see her?" He asked, she nodded and opened the door for loki to enter. He went in and saw her lying on the table, she had a proper shirt on now (it was actually longer and more like a tunic), but she was still shivering and her face was cold "Why is she so cold?" He asked concerned "She's lost a lot of blood, She's also very week. we were just about to take her back to her chambers." She told him "I'll take her back" he said to her, picking Eira up off the table, She groaned I little bit, he didn't even realize she was still awake, it was very late. "Shhhh, it's alright" he whispered.
He walked her back to her chambers with the healer following behind. He gently laid her back down in her bed, she held onto his arm as he put her down.
"Eira, it's okay, you'll be fine, you just need to get some sleep now" he whispered "Please stay with me" she said, her voice week
"Oh, darling, I wish I could, but I can't. I'll come back first thing in the morning though" he told her, she let go of his arm and slid into her bed, loki wrapped several blankets around her to keep her warm. He left her room, he wanted to be able to stay with her like she asked, but knew it wasn't acceptable. He went back to his own chambers, it had gotten very late and he was very tired. Soon he was asleep. The next morning he went back to see Eira as he had promised. He knocked on the door and it was opened by one of the healers, he was glad the she had someone with her all night. "May I come in?" He asked, she nodded and let him in. Eira was awake but still looked week and felt cold. He sat down on the bed next to her.
"How do you feel?" He asked softly. She started to sit up a bit "I feel better than I did last night" she said. He picked her up again and held her close to him. "I always feel safe when I'm with you, loki" she said. He held her for a few more minutes "I should let you go now" he said laying her back down. He stood up, ready to leave the room. "Loki" she said "will you read to me?" She asked. He smiled at her request "Yes, of course, what would you like me to read?" He asked, sitting back down
"That book you started reading To me when I was in the prison, we never got to finish it" she said with a smile. He got the book, and started reading it to her.
