Loki woke up in the middle of the night, he knew they had to get going. they weren't really supposed to stay out all night anyway, and he knew it'd be a long walk back, he also wanted to get back before anyone noticed they'd stayed out. He looked at Eira, she was still sleeping peacefully, the moonlight reflected off her light blonde hair, and the breeze caused the light dress she'd fallen asleep in to flow in waves. He gently shook her shoulder, she groaned a little before her eyes opened slightly.
"Come on love, let's get back home" he said softly, she nodded and got up, they hadn't brought anything with them, so they started back down the mountain. it was dark, which made it harder, but they could see due to the bright moonlight. They got down the mountain within a few hours, maybe three, it was still dark and loki was glad they would be able to get back before anyone was awake. They kept walking for about another hour before Eira stopped.
"Hey, what's wrong?" He asked, coming back to her. She just shook her head a little.
"Nothing, I just got a little dizzy again" she said with a smile "I'm fine" she added.
"Are you sure?" He asked, she nodded.
"Yes, I'm fine" she replied, but when she tried to take another step she stumbled and loki had to catch her to keep her from falling.
"You're not that great at looking like you're fine" he said a little jokingly, but then got a little more serious when he saw that she really wasn't alright at all, she was breathing hard and her eyes were wandering.
"Hey, look at me. Focus on me" he told her, holding her face in his hands. She held onto his wrists and tried to focus.
"I'll be okay" she breathed.
"Are you still sick?" He asked, remembering how she felt a few days ago.
"No, no I'm not sick" she said, she stood there a few minutes trying to get her head straight, but she was still dizzy. He helped her down to the ground so she could sit for a moment, she took a few deep breaths, trying to get back to normal, but it didn't work. They weren't that far from the palace, so loki scooped her up and started to carry her.
"Loki, you don't need to carry me, I'm fine" she told him, but he didn't really listen and just continued to carry her, and in a little while she was actually asleep. In a short while they were back at the palace, it was still dark and no one was awake yet, so loki quietly entered. He snuck down the dead silent halls, trying to be as quiet as possible. The silence in the halls made him think of when he and Eira got up that night and found that the jotuns were attacking, he thought about how he let it distract him, how Thor was near death and Eira's best friend, Afya, was murdered. He thought of how she had to watch frigga die and then was taken captive herself, all these thoughts were racing through his mind, and he held onto her more tightly, which made her stir a little.
"Where- what happened?" She asked in a half awake voice. "Shh, nothing, we're home and I'm taking you to bed" he whispered, she just nodded and leaned her head against his chest, he smiled slightly and took her to their room. He set her down in bed, quickly changed his clothes, and slid in bed next to her, he didn't realize how tired he was until just now. "Loki" Eira groaned.
"What?" He said back. "Tomorrow night, when we go to bed together, we'll be king and queen" she said, opening her eyes and waking up a little more.
"How do you feel about that?" He asked.
"Excited. Terrified" she told him, he smirked a little.
"Me too" he said back, before they both fell asleep again.
