Eira had been pregnant for about two months now, and she was just barely beginning to show. One day she remembered a promise she made herself a long time ago. She saw loki siting with his face in a book, and he seemed so into it, she snuck a look at the name and saw that it was one of her books- 'the Lord of the Rings'- and decided to have a little fun, she tiptoed over to him and stood behind him, he didn't even notice her there, she saw that the title of the chapter was 'shelob's lair' and knew he had to be focused.
"Loki!" She said quickly while grabbing his shoulders from behind, causing him to drop the book from being startled.
"Eira" he said catching his breath and bending down to pick up her book. "You scared me" he said with a slight grin, she gave a mischievous laugh.
"I think I've rubbed off on you a little too much" he said with his usual smirk.
"Do you like the book?" She asked sitting next to him, he nodded.
"Yes, very much" he said "my precious" he added. "So did you come here to talk about the book?" He asked, wondering why she snuck up on him in the first place.
"Oh, right. Well, I'm going on a little journey and I wanted to know if you'd accompany me" she told him, he gave her one of his 'looks' "You can't go on a journey, you're going to have a baby" he told her.
"In seven months" she said in a sassy tone.
"Well where are you going?" He asked, not wanting to put her in any kind of danger.
"Just back to my old home, there's something there that I need" she told him, moving to sit on his lap and putting her arms around his neck. "Please let me go?" She asked while fiddling with his hair.
"Are you trying to manipulate me?" He asked even though he knew she was.
"Mhm" she she said with a nod. He rolled his eyes at her childishness.
"Alright fine" he said "but" he continued "we have to be back here by tonight" he told her.
"Thank you" she said quickly as she kissed his temple and went to get ready. After only a few minutes they were both ready to go, it was cold out so they both bundled up pretty warmly. after they reached the edge of the main city,
they rode on for about two hours, until they came to her village and found her old house.
They both walked in and she stopped in the doorway.
"It feels like forever" she said under her breath, looking around and letting old memories resurface.
"What did you need to get?" Loki asked, realizing the trip there took longer than expected, as it was already getting late, she shook her head, bringing herself back to the present.
"It's a gold necklace, and it's in the shape of the sun" she said as she walked back into her old room. She looked around for a while, picking up other things she'd forgotten about, but couldn't seem to find the necklace.
"Eira, it's getting late, we need to head back" loki told her, realizing it was already getting dark.
"Can I jut have a few more minutes?" She asked, frustrated that she couldn't find it.
"Eira, darling" he said, holding her shoulders and turning her to face him. "It's already getting dark, and it's very cold and I don't want you getting sick" he told her. She knew he was right, it would be very late by the time they got back.
"Alright" she said, upset that she never found it. Loki saw how upset she was and tried to think of some way they could stay later, he stood there for a minute before speaking.
"How about you and I stay here for the night, and we can keep looking In The morning" he suggested, she smiled.
"Oh thank you, loki" she said hugging him. After another hour of hunting around for the necklace, she finally found it, in a small black box, hidden under a loose board in the floor. by this time it was pretty late and both of them were getting tired. They crawled into her old tiny bed, and they had to snuggle close to each other to keep from falling off, which neither of them minded.
"Where did you get that necklace, and why did you want it back so bad?" Loki asked"Once when I was walking out to get food, I saw this woman selling jewelry, she called for me and handed it to me, I told her I didn't have enough money and she said 'just keep it, you look like you could use some sunlight in you life' it felt like she knew me, like she could see my pain. And I always wanted to give it to my first child when he or she was born, the first time they saw the sunlight" she told him, he smiled. He looked around seeing how she used to live, how she didn't even have enough money to get herself a small necklace, and still she was content.
"I wish I met you earlier in life, I wish I met you when I was being ungrateful for not being king" he told her, she smiled and turned to face him.
"Well we have each other now" was all she could think of to say before falling asleep in his embrace
